Spinal Curvatur
Of late, several persons
who are suffering from a
worsening spinal curvature
have asked if
the pain they
have been get
ting in their
abdomen
could be due
to pressure on
nerves that
are pinched
between two
c o 1 1 a p s ing
ilr. Alvares vert (bri!
Most assuredly the pain can
be arising in the curving
spine. I well remember wom
en who, either in girlhood or
old ,;e, had a collapsing
spine, and who promptly got
abdominal pain that some
people thought was due to co
litis. Actually, it was being
produced in pinched nerves.
This is a miserable disease
because often even a good
orthopedist finds it almost im
possible to stop the process
that , threatens to make ;hs
victim into almost a hunch
back. Commonly, no one is
sure why the back is caving
in, and no one is sure what
can be done to stop the pro
cess. Often the person is put
into a body cast or body brace,
or an operation is performed
to splint port of the spine, in
the cases of old people with
a spine that is losing its lime
salts, female and male hor
mones are given, but I cannot
remember ever having seen
any very good results.
Not Bleeds
Many a person wants to
know what nosebleeds are due
to. Often, they are due to
picking the nose: Sometimes
blowing the nose will start
one. I have had scores of
nosebleeds but fortunately, I
never had any trouble stop
ping one. I doubt if the ones
I had ever meant anything. I
have always had excellent
health. If I were to keep get
ting many severe nosebleeds
that were hard to stop, 1
quickly get a good check- tp
to make sure that my blood
clotting mechanism is in good
sliape. I would make sure
that 1 was not coming down
with some serious disease. 1
would also get a good nose
man to look in my nose for
a little ulcer.

Truck Proves Need
For Street Repair
Scranton. Pa. -The winter.
has been rough on Scranton's ;
streets.
A Public Works Depart

fill up potholes in one badly

broke open under one of the 1

It took a powerful tractor
to yank the truck loose.
