MOTHER'S DAY - The Lennon sisters,
who sing on Lawrence Welk s show, join
their father and the other children of the
family as they present a Mother's day gift
to Mrs. Lennon. Father Bill Lennon's con
tribution was an offer to take care of the
children for the day-no small offer. There
are 11 children in the family. The father,
front center, holds the newest member, six-weeks-old
Christopher. The famed singers
are Peggy, 19, seated left, middle row, and
standing at rear, Dianne, 20, Kathy, 16, and
Janet, 13.

Talks on the Keep Oregon
Green program started Wed
nesday In schools In the area,
according to Dale C. Prentice,
Jackson County chairman of
the Keep Oregon Green com
mittee. The talks, including motion
pictures, are being given by
Albert Weisendanger, Salem,
executive secretary of the as
sociation. Wednesday, he spoke in
Hedrlck Junior High school,
Vilsoii and Lone Fine suliuuls;
Thursday at the Griffin Creek
and Oak Grove schools.
Friday's schedule included
Satni Valley, Hanby and Cen
tral Point Junior High
jchools.
This week he will continue
at Hoover and Lincoln, Mon
day; Washington, Howard,
and Jackson, Tuesday; Jeffer
son. Roosevelt, and Crater
High schools, Wednesday;
Walker, Lincoln, Bellview,
and Briscoe in Ashland,
Thursday; and Ruch, Jackson
ville and West Side schools,
Friday. , .
The talk and film this year
are used to help minimize
man caused fires in the coun
ty, Prentice said. Since April
1, the start of the official fire
season in Oregon, the state
fire patrol has been called
out on six fires.

Lake of Woods
Resort Now Open
Lake of the Woods resort is
now open for business with
cabins and boats available and
the opening of the grocery
store, according to Tom Nee-
ley, one o the resort opera
tors.
Roads to the resort, as well
as to the ranger station on the
north end of the lake are
open. However, the road is not
open between Fish lake and
Lake of the Woods, Neeley
said. Reports indicate that the
Dead Indian rd. to Ashland
via the east side of the lake
is open and homeowners can
reach cabins by boat until the
summer roads are cleared.
Personnel at the resort area
will include Tom and Irene
Neeley, LeRoy Neeley, Tex
and Lou Mayhew, and Iven
and Ida Hobbs.
A gift shop and post office
will be ready for use this sea
son, and the coffee shop will
open May 14.
