Several Jackson county
Democrats have joined the
committee to reelect Oregon's
Democratic national commit
teeman, C. Girard (Jetaby)
Devidson.
Davidson announced t h e
commitiec this week at a
meeting of the Eleanor Roose
velt league at the home of
District Attorney Thomas J.
Reeder. The National Com
mitteeman was accompanied
by Mrs. Davidson.
He spoke briefly about the
Democratic national conven
tion scheduled in Los Angeles
this summer.
Davidson, a Portland attor
ney, is a recognized Demo
cratic party leader with more
than 16 years of public serv
ice. He was President Tru
man's assistant secretary of
the interior from 1946 to 1050.

Power administration from
1940 to 1946. He is also gen
eral counsel for the National
Hells Canyon association.
Democratic National Chair
man Paul Butler recently
named Davidson to head the
newly authorized natural re
sources committee of the Dem

par with su-h party lead
ers as Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt,
chairman of the Civil Rights
committee.

the President's son, was con
sidering a teaching assign
ment in a foreign university
some months ago, according
to his friends. He is suppos
ed to have dropped the idea
since then.
Some of the President's in
timates are referring vaguely I

once the national political
conventions are over. No de
tails, just private predictions
that "things" will be a lot
different.
What's so different about

done that before.
