with brushed or suede leather
bodies, in lighter shades of
brown, blue, purple or gray.
The boot look adds still
more excitement to the spring
scene! Instead of coming up
above the ankles, the spring
boot-pump and walking ox
ford with its high-rising vamp
merely "suggests" a boot.
To keep these high-risers
light enough for spring com
fort, the lightweight leather
uppers have large perforations
or slits, vamp or instep cut
out, or open-collar effects at
the top of the vamp.
Spectators Popular
Contrasting leather textures
are tops more now, since the
spectator style especially
lends itself so well to combi
nations. Washable white leathers,
with strongly defined grains,

unique shape-holding quali
ties, help underline the neat
line of the spectator look.
Extended soles are often
outlined in black to focus at
tention on the tapered, point
ed, oval or squared-off silhou
ette of the shoe.
