Footwear Fashion
For Teen Age Girl
Has Right Angles
Today's teen age girl it no
square, but she has all the
right angles on footwear fash
ion. To prove the point, the
Shoe Fashion Service authori
ties of Leather Industries of
America report this spring's
teen shoe styles have attained
high fashion status-but are
still price-scaled to modest
teen-age allowances.
Tapered toes in pointed,
oval, or squared-off tips add
sophistication to shoes in all
heel heights, from flat to the
smart stacked leather mid
heel. Paris rose, lilac, red coral,
yellow tulip, flight blue, and
a new creamy olive green
ire just a few of the new col
, ors in smooth, grained and
suede leather in shoes for all
occasions.
Them for Styles
Leather - on - leather is (he
theme of hundreds of bright
combination styles.
Novelty ties add a new
open look to ghillies. The
hook-and-eye fastening popu
lar last season is rivaled this
spring by brass eyelets, some
times In novelty shapes. Ghil
lies are brighter in the new
leather colors.
Slim, flexible leather soles
are an important style fea
ture of the new teen styles
they underscore the light,
springtime feeling of both
casual and dress shoes.
Natural Porous
In addition, the natural por
ous quality of the leather sole
enables cooling air to enter
and circulate around the foot.
This allows perspiration to
evaporate, a "must for com
fort" as spring days get
warmer.
: Shoe styles preferred by
teen-age girls for spring dates
include suede, brushed and
' smooth leather mid heel
pumps in bone, while, various
browns and pastels

Trans-Season Suits
In Wool Available
In Men's Fashion
The clouds are lifting this
spring for men. No longer
will the male be doomed to
wear the same drab, heavy
winter suit into spring.
On the horizon are trans
season suits in wool w o o 1
that's lighter in weight, and
brighter in tone, reports the
Wool bureau.
In buying the proper suit
weight, remember that the
most comfortable spring wool
suits are lighter tan fall suits
but not as light in weight as
cool summer tropicals.
All-wool Fabrics
Spring suits usually feature
fabrics of all-wood in weights
ranging from nine to ten
ounces. Winter suits usually
run from 10 t o 12 ounces.
Still, lighter in weight, the
cool, summer wool tropicals
come in fabrics of six to eight
ounces. . :
The American male's new
spring suit will come in a
smooth wool-worsted noted
for more color, more pattern.
And, too, his spring wool suit
will sport a new silhouette
one with more shape.

More Ideas Noted
In '60 Lingerie
There are more new ideas
in lingerie this year than there
have been in years.
Newest is the bra slip, an
all-in-one garment featuring
comfort, convenience and
beauty.
Styles range from a semi
bra top to a mid-hip torso bra
-and the attached slips may
be slim, flared or fully bouf
fant. In the regular slip and pet
ticoat line the key note is
"complement." Each style is
especially designed to go with
one of spring's dress or suit
silhouettes.
For ejcample-a softly pleat
ed flounce and bosom follows
the lines of a "Chanel" type
suit. A softly gathered, stand
out petticoat offers just
enough bouffance to prop the
new belted coat dress silhou
ette. A molded bodice and slim
skirt offers figure definition
for a blouson dress.
A bias cut (something new
too) slip fluldly follows the
natural body line shaping
bodice and hips to duplicate
a bias cut dress silhouette.
Fabrics are truly whisper
weight for spring and all are,
of course, easy-care. Trims are
luxurious and perfectly love
ly under sheers.
Colors-yes!-they return In
lingerie, richer with more
hues too. There is a color to
match or contrast with every
outfit in your wardrobe.
A word about panties-:hese
too are prettier than ever with
greater use of lace delicate
trims and color seen everywhere.

Sport Coats Are
Strong on Pattern
Sport coats for the spring
summer 1960 season are
strong on pattern . . . light on
weight!
Look for handsome checks,
stripes and plaids in tropical
worsteds, Shctlands and
tweeds. Wash-wear seersuck
ers and Dacron-cottons are
more important than ever.
Dramatic Indian Madrases,
challis prints and bold batiks
add new spice to the sports
wear scene.
Washington - Service sta
tions in the U.S. have about
1,400,000 gas pumps in operation.
