occasion were made during a
business session held last
week at the home of Mrs. C.
Norman Gail. Co-hostesses
were Mrs. Harry Quinn, and
Mrs. Edward Knapp. Mrs.
Clarence Parsley, vice-president
of the group conducted
the session in the absence of
Mrs. Ted Schoenemann, pres
ident of the unit.

Mrs. Delos Walker was
named to represent the
Health unit on the summer
recreation committee. She
will attend a planning meet
ing with representatives from
other participating groups,
Monday. April 11, at 7:30 p.m.
in the Hanby school's cafeter
ia. Members of the unit voted
to make a cash contribution
to the summer recreation pro
ject which has been proposed
to benefit local youngsters.
Ten members volunteered
to bake cakes for the annual
Jackson County Tuberculosis
and Health association's
luncheon which will be held
Friday, April 22, at 12 noon at
the Red Cross building, Mcd
ford. Cakes may be left either
at the home of Mrs. Delos
Walker or Mrs. Arthur Boye.

inating committee to select a
slate of officers for the ensu
ing year. They are Mrs. Walk
er, Mrs. Quinn, and Mrs. Ger
vas Southall.

Patrick school in September
will be held Wednesday, May
18. from a a m. till 12 noon
at the school. Named on the

the clinic are Mrs. Wilmer
Bailey, Mrs. Dale Smith, Mrs.
Walker and Mrs. Clyde Kell.

Annual Fellowship Day
Announced by Council
Medford Council of United!
Church Women is this year
joining more than 2,200 local
and state councils in the ob-
servance of May Fellowship j
day. It will be held Friday,
May 8. at which time atten
tion will be focused on the
theme "Citizenship, Free and
Responsible."
Mrs. Everett Lasher and
Mrs. Lyle Schoppert are the
day's chairmen.
The original plan for May
Fellowship day was to foster
closer fellowship among
Christian women of various
denominations. Gradually pro
grams have widened through
this fellowship with the result
that viewpoints and activities
too, have assumed greater im
portance in church relation
ships In this country, it is
said.
This year, which is election
year, the council reminds
women of their duty as citi
zens to become interested in
political issues as related to
the well being of the country.
Councils are advised to form
study groups to consider ma
jor issues in the campaign or
the records of local, state and
national candidates.

State" writes "It is the respon
sibility of Christian citizens to

Installation of 1960 officers
of the Scottish Rite Women's
club will be held at Kim's
restaurant at a 12:30 o'clock
luncheon Monday, April 11.
AH Scottish Rite Mason's
wives, mothers and daughters ,
are invited to the no-host
event. Reservations may be

Card games will follow the
luncheon. Members who wish
transportation are to meet at
the Masonic temple. Past
presidents are in charge of

the Medford Congregation of
Jehovah's Witnesses at their
Kingdom hall at 2402 Jack

Following a discussion of
the Scripture in which Jesus
instituted the first "Evening
Meal" the congregation will
celebrate the memorial of
Christ's death and the insti
tuting of the Lord's Evening
Meal.
It was explained by Harlen
S. Nixon, presiding minister,
that this evening after sun
down is the beginning of
Nisan 14 and is the anniver
sary date of the Jewish Pass
