Providence Guild of Sacred Heart hospital, formed in 1948 by a group of 20 women, is an organization through which
women of the Rogue valley may "serve humanity". The guild, which now numbers more than 80 women, has a program
of sewing, operates a hospitality cart and keeps two gift display cases filled with merchandise. Mrs. J. R. O'Connor, (at
left) and Mrs. Charles Lasher, are .among the members who wheel the cart from room to room as a service to patients in
the hospital.

' On a recent Thursday Mrs. C. E. Brown (at left) and Mrs. Orean Dailey spent the morning sewing at Sacred Heart hospital.
Working for Providence Guild, the two women were making pajamas for patients In the pediatrics wards. The guild owns
some machines, ond members who own portables bring their own. Guild members make house slippers, gowns, Infants wear and
bathrobes, one of which Mrs. Dailey holds. Since the women sew ot the hospital but one day a month, many of them also take
guild sewing home. Some of the articles art told in order to earn money for hospital equipment, otheri or given away if there it need.
