Confraternity Helpers
To Meet Here Tonight
A meeting of the Helpers of
the Confraternity of Christian
Doctrine of Sacred Heart par
ish will be held at 8 o'clock
tonight at the home of Mrs.
Shirley Drysdale, 23 North
Orange St., Medford.
Mrs. R. J. Batzer, chairman
of the group, has asked that
anyone interested in this
phase of the Confraternity
program attend the meeting
and take scissors. Other ma
terials needed for the current
projects of the Helpers will
be provided.
A special appeal is made to
the mothers of children at
tending the Saturday cate
chism classes at St. Mary's
school. Holy cards, pictures,
book marks and teaching aids
made by the Helpers are used
in the classes, and it is the
hope of the committee that
children concerned will Join
in the effort to make the
classes as beneficial and in
teresting as possible.
Those who have no interest
or talent in this respect are
still needed in other parts of
the Helpers program, accord
ing to Mrs. Batzer. The group
is responsible for transporta
tion of children, baby sitting
for discussion club members,
assisting teachers at Saturday
classes, compiling and keep
ing files, and clerical jobs.

mation for bids for construc
tion of about four miles of
canals and three miles of
drains and related structures
near Tulelake. Bids will be
opened May 17 in Klamath
Falls.
The construction, at Sump
2 about seven miles southwest
of Tulelake in Siskiyou coun
ty, is the second segment of a
four-year program to provide
facilities for improved irriga
tion and drainage on 17,000
acres of Tule lake bottom
lands.
The lands have been re
claimed by the Klamath fed
eral reclamation project by
diking and diversion and
pumping of inflow from Lost
river. Soils are among the
most productive in the Kla
math basin, according to the ,
bureau, and the improved fa
cilities are needed to maintain
the high productivity through
more efficient irrigation and
drainage practices.
The lands are in federal
ownership and served by
Tulelake Irrigation district.
