Progress Program
In Final Weeks
A fellowship dinner and
visitation will climax the Pro
gram of Progress now in its
final weeks at the First
Church of God, Haven at
Holly sts., according to the
Rev. W. E. Martin, pastor.
The dinner, to be held at
the Red Cross chapter house
annex on Hawthorne ave., is
scheduled for Saturday even
ing and visitation teams will
contact members of the con
gregation on Sunday after
noon. The week end events will
highlight an eight-week pro
gram of self evaluation on per
sornal and church goals. Dur
ing the past weeks members
have filled out and discussed
questionnaires designed to
pinpont the needs and direc
tion of the church for the
next five years. The Program
of Progress, now concluding
its initial phase, will be a
springboard to launch an in
tensive evangelistic outreach
in the near future, according
to Mr. Martin.
A guest director, the Rev.
Dwight Brown, will be in
Medford for 10 days to evalu
ate the information gathered
and conduct a series of train
ing, leadership and evangelic
al visitation classes. Mr.
Brown, who will speak at the
Sunday morning service, has
been active in this work
throughout Oregon in recent
weeks. '

place tonight at 7:30 o'clock.
In addition to mass, the
final mission sermon and ben
ediction, the papal blessing
will be given for those who
have fulfilled the mission ob
ligations of attending the de
votions, going to confession
and receiving Communion.
Beginning Saturday, the
regular Lenten schedule of
devotions will be resumed.
This includes daily morn
ing masses at 6:45 and 8 a.m.
Monday through Friday there
is a mass at 7:30 p.m. Each
Wednesday there will be Per
petual Help devotions and on
Fridays there will be stations
of the cross in addition to the
7:30 p.m. mass.
Confessions will be heard
as usual on Saturdays from 4
to 5:30 and from 7:30 to 9
p.m. Next Thursday confes
sions will also be heard in
preparation for First Friday
mass and communion
Unitarians to Hear
Bennett Kilpack
Bennett B. Kilpack will
speak on the subject "The
Young Rebels in Religion" at
tonight's meeting of the Uni
tarian Fellowship.
The talk will explain the
attitude towards religion on
the part of so-called juvenile
delinquents. Mr., Kilpack is
a 1959 graduate of Southern
Oregon college and at present
is director of Del Norte Coun
ty Juvenile home at Gasquet,
Calif. He is also a consultant
in sociology at SOC and has
taught extension courses in
group dynamics in both Med
ford and Ashland. He is a
member of the California
Parole and Probation associ
ation. The Rogue Valley Unitar
ian Fellowship meets weekly
at 7:30 p.m. Friday, in the
Gresham room of the Ashland
City library. Coffee and re
freshments are served at the
end of the discussion period.

in a series of sermons from
the book of Ecclesiastes.
Fellowship hour for the
young people of the church
following the evening service

Mr. and Mrs. Russ Carr, 3645

The Men's Fellowship of the
church will meet Monday,
March 28, at 7 p.m., beginning
with a potluck supper. Des
sert will be furnished. The
program, in charge of Oliver
Smith, will feature music and
a message by the Rev. Frank
Tetro, who is in the States
for a few months representing
his missionary work in Japan
among U.S. servicemen and
the Japanese people. All men
of the church are invited to
attend and to bring friends
with them.

Circuit Convention
Planned in April
A Circuit convention of Je
hovah's Witnesses will be held
in Klamath Falls April 15
through 17, according to Har
lan S. Nixon, presiding minis
ter of the Medford congrega
tion. Some 23 congregations in
northern California and south
ern Oregon will be represent
ed. Site of the meeting will be
the Klamath auditorium.
The convention is sponsored
by the Watchtower Bible and
Tract Society of New York.
Theme for the three-day
conference is "Seek Peace and
Pursue It."
Highlight of the convention
will be the public Bible lec
ture, "Finding Peace In A
Troubled World" Sunday,
April 17, at 3 p.m.
