Green Peter dam be named
after the late Sen. Richard L.
Neuberger (D-Ore.).
The dam is one which Neu
berger sought to be renamed
after former Interior Secre
tary Douglas McKay, . when
McKay died last year.
. Hatfield's suggestion was
contained in a letter to Rep.
Walter Norblad (R-Ore.).
Detroit dam east of here is
now expected to be named aft
er McKay.

Four Minor Mishaps
Reported in City
Four minor traffic accidents
were reported to Medford city
police Wednesday, none of
them resulting in any injuries.
A quantity of oil and gaso
line spilled onto Front st.,
between Main and Eighth sts.
Wednesday at 11:20 a.m. when
two trucks collided, rupturing
one of the truck's fuel tanks,
according to city police.
The driver of the truck
sustaining most of the damage
was James Rich Hill, 44, Sac
ramento, who told police that
a small sports car swerved in
front of his truck, while it
was heading south on Front
st., forcing it into a parked
truck, registered to M. C. Lin
inger and Sons, 3959 Hamrick
rd.
Hill's truck sustained dam
age to the steering gear box
and front bumper in addition
to the fuel tank, and had to
be towed from the scene, city
police' said. Damage to the
parked truck was negligible.
Flush Gasoline
City firemen flushed the
gasoline from the street and
spread sand over the oil.
An accident occurred on
private property at the Cen
tral Motel, 510 South Central
ave., about 7 a.m. Wednesday
when a car operated by Daniel
A. Parker, 38, of the same
address, backed into a brick
constructed sign owned by the
motel, according to city police.
Damage was moderate to both
the sign and the vehicle, they
said.
A third traffic accident oc
curred about 11:05 p.m.

They said both vehicles ap
parently stopped at the four
way stop intersection then
proceeded into the intersec
tion at the same time. The
Brown vehicle sustained dam
age to the right front fender
and the Yoder vehicle, slight
damage to the front end. No
citations were issued.
