Two Foresters
Added to Medford
District of BLM
The Medford district of the
bureau of land management
has been delineated into five
forest management operating
areas instead of three, accord
ing to Ross Youngblood, dis
trict manager.
The change was made to
better serve those doing bus
iness with the district, he
noted. The district includes
the largest part of Jackson,
Josephine and the western
portion of Klamath counties,
and small portions of Coos,
Curry and Douglas counties.
The district was delineated
into five geographical areas
so unit foresters could better
supervise all land manage
ment activities within the unit
area, including the direction
of bureau personnel under
their supervision, Young
blood said.
Foresters Added
Two unit foresters were
added to the Medford district
staff to handle the change, he
said. They are Ernest D.
Black, formerly of Roseburg,
and Robert L. Mason, former
ly of Salem.
Black has had about 10
years experience with the
BLM in the Roseburg area,
and at the time of his trans
fer was handling the unit for
ester activities on the Drain
unit. He is a graduate of
Michigan State university.
Mason was promoted from
a position in Salem to take
his responsibilities here. He
has been with the BLM since
1952, and is a graduate of
Michigan State university.
James M. Anderson, Rose
burg, has been promoted and
assigned to the Glendale unit
under the supervision of Unit
Forester Kenneth Jensen of
the Medford district. Ander
son fills a vacancy on the
Medford district staff.
Anderson is a graduate of
the University of Washington,
and has been with the BLM
three years, all in Roseburg.
OLCC Stops Bar
Liquor Licenses
Portland -UPD- The Oregon
Liquor Control Commission
Wednesday stopped issuance
of licenses for sellers of liquor
over the bar until results of
the 1960 population census
are released.
OLCC Chairman Hugh
Kirkpatrick said, the new
census would be heeded to
determine if more licenses can
be legally issued.
He said the Commission be
lieves the number of outstand
ing licenses permitting the
selling of liquor by the glass
now approaches the statutory
limit. He said it was regret
table to have to take the step.
According to the 1953 law,
one license is permitted to
every 2,000 persons in the
state based on the federal
census.
