Argentina Bars
Planes From Gulf
Buenos Aires - (CPD - The
air force barred civil air traf
fic from the Nuevo Gulf area
today, and it appeared the
navy might be preparing an
all-out attack on what It be
lieves to be a submarine corn
ered there.
The air force ban was not
explained. The navy had pre
viously closed the gulf to pri
vate shipping for "tactical
reasons."
Navy Secretary Gaston Cle
ment told newsmen Wednes
day night the navy could
order "armed reprisals"
against the submarine if it re
fused to leave the gulf be
cause it had penetrated "in
terior Argentine waters."
When he was asked whether
this meant the navy might
bombard the submarine, Cle
ment replied, "that is the
spirit of the communique."

Artificial Bumps
Slow Drivers Down
Alliance, O. - The problem
of getting motorists to slow
down to five miles an hour to
protect children in his trailer
park was solved by F. X. Car
roll.
He placed bumps, four in
ches high and a foot wide, in
the asphalt roadway at the
park entrances.
"Most drivers ignore the
signs," he said. "They can't
ignore the bumps."
