If Hollywood wants to regain some of .its
faded glamour, maybe it should try keeping
up with Jones Carolyn Jones, in this case.
A couple of years ago, Carolyn and her
husband, writer-producer Aaron Spelling,
couldn't make the down payment on a one
bedroom home which would have fit into
Rudolph Valentino's sitting room in "the good
old days" when film stars awed the world with
their lavish living.
Success eventually came to Aaron and
Carolyn, now appearing in Warner Brothers'
"Ice Palace," and they determined to make up
for old frustrations and splurge like the idols
of yesteryear.
The result is a sprawling $150,000 home in
fashionable Royal Oaks with enough wall-to-wall
carpeting to put a rug dealer in business,
plus wading-pool-size bathtubs (with gilt
hardware), a chauffeured Cadillac, a closetful
of furs and cashmeres, and a view looking
down on Hollywood's favorite angle such
neighbors as Steve Allen, Julie London,
Shirley MacLaine, and Gale Storm.
It doesn't compare with Valentino's fabled
