Four Injured in
One of Five Auto
Accidents Here

. Four person were injured
In one of. five accident re
ported to city police Friday
and Saturday. Police blamed
Ice and fog for most of the
accidents.

man, 42, of Ashland, received
chest injuries when the car
she was driving struck a tele
phone pole - while trying to
turn from Lone Pine rd. onto
Springbrook rd. Friday at
3:18 p.m., according to city
police. Police said heavy fog
Which obstructed her vision,
was the cause of the accident.
Others injured in the acci
dent were Larry Jay Dalbec.
13, of 723 Table Rock rd., suf
fering head and leg injuries;
Karry Ray Dalbec, 13, same
address, injuries unknown;
Dorothy Eva Holgate, 13, Cen
tral Point, injuries unknown.
They were all passengers in
the Baalman vehicle. All were
taken to the Sacred Heart hos
pital by the Medford Ambu
lance Service.

Friday at 8:35 p.m. when a
truck owned by Austin L.
King, 1200 Crater Lake ave.,
stalled at the 'intersection of
h!;fwayf 99 and 62, according
totty police.
- The truck's lights were not
working so a flare was set
out, but a car operated by
Donald Leslie Harlow, Fern-
dale, Wash., failed to see it
because of the fog and crash
ed into the truck. There were
no injuries but considerable
damage was done to the front
end of the Harlow vehicle,
police said.
Kit From Behind .
i Another accident occurred
Saturday at 7:35 a.m. when
Valletta Heloise Culy, Route
$, Medford, stopped her car
on Crater Lake ave. near
Delta Waters rd. to clean ice
off the windshield. The car
was struck from behind by a
vehicle operated by Merle
Woodrow O'Connor, 3547 Del
ta Waters rd., in dense fog,
according to police.
There were no injuries or
citations , issued, police said,
and only slight damage was
done to both vehicles.
Mary Margaret Johnson,
959 Oak st., Central Point;
told city police her car was
struck from behind by a panel
truck which left the scene be
fore police could arrive. The
accident occurred at the inter
section of North Riverside
ave. and Edwards st. at 8:19
'clock Friday morning. Dam
age waa negligible, police said.
. There was a hit-and-run ac
cident Friday morning, ac
cording to police, on West
Sixth st. between Grape and
Fir sts. Myron Kenneth Yost,
Roseburg , told police his car
waa hit while parked at that
location. Police said there was
considerable damage done to
the front fender of the Yost
ear.
Stockholders OK
Merger of Firms
The merger of Oregon Ven
ter company, Medford with
Russek'i Fifth Ave., Inc.,
New York City, was approved
by stockholders of the two
firms Friday.
; The merger will not be
come effective until merger
papers are filed in Oregon
and New York,
v Russek's originally was a
department store, but in re
cent years has liquidated
most of its department store
holdings. The firm operates
women's fur salon in New
York City and manufactures
In Chicago maternity clothes
and styles for tall women
which are retailed in 41
tores in 13 states, most of
them in the midwest.
Russek's now has six di
rectors, and that number may
be increased to nine at a lat
er date to include directors
who are familiar with the
nature 'of the Oregon opera
tion. No Change is anticipated
in the operation, of the Ore
gon Veneer company.
' The present management
of Oregon Veneer will contin
ue as it is, with the possibil
ity that officials of the local
company may become offi
cers in the new corporation.
Officers of Oregon Veneer
company are A. B. McQuire,
president and general man
ager; Paul Doe, vice presi
dent; Alex Austin, office man
ager; and Carl Brophy, sec
retary. It is anticipated here that
the local company will be
operated as the Oregon Ven
eer division under Russek's.

the American Stock Ex
change. , The postal money-order sys
tem was established Nov. 1,
