Crater High School

Many students of Crater
High school, most of them art
students, are organizing an
Art club.
Officers have not been
chosen since the newly pro
posed club has not been or
ganized as yet.
A meeting was called Wed
nesday, Dec. 9, for all inter
ested students. Joyce Cook,
temporary president, asked
for two volunteers for each
class to draw up a written
constitution for the club. Vol
unteers were Seniors Nancie
Hopper and Ray Ann Greene,
Juniors Linda Maehren and
Mary Sanderson, Sophomores
Janet Hobbs and Reba Taylor,
and Freshmen Kathy Robert
son and Mae Brown.
Warren Holbrook and Mrs.
Sharon Meaney, art teachers,
stated that if all the posters
are made by the art club, im
provements would be many.
Their first project is the
Christmas decorations for
Camp White.
The winter play, sponsored
by the dramatics club, was
held last Friday and Satur
day nights, Dec: 11-12. The
comedy, "Anne of Green Ga
bles," consisted of 14 per-
- formers.

On Dec. 16, the FHA and
FFA will have their annual
wreath party.
The FFA will bring the
boughs, hangers for wire, pine
cones, and furnish entertain
ment. The FHA will furnish the
ribbons and canned snow and
serve refreshments,

Jackson school. Ribbons, glit
ter, cotton, paper, paint and
glue are used to make things.
A mural done by the children
is on display in Mrs. Muriel
. Harvey' second grade class.
Many children in grades
five and six are making tree
decorations to be sent to Camp
White. Mrs. Lucille Stroh is
Junior Red Cross advisor.

Two subscriptions to the
Reader's Digest were sent to
the Camp White library by
the Jackson school student
body.
The third six weeks period
has begun. Soon the first half
of this school year will be

Five Persons Die
In Plunge of Aulo
Ventura. Calif.-4UPD - Five
men were killed when their
auto plunged through a guard
rail Saturday and landed in a
30-foot deep gully. The wreck
age went undetected for near
ly 12 hours.
An 8-year-old boy, Michael
McLean, spotted the wrecked
car with the arms of the driv
er extending through a win
dow and guided his mother,
Louise, to it. Coroner Pat Sul
li"an said it appeared all the
men were killed instantly in
the crash three miles south of
here at the suburb of Mon
talvo. -
The dead were all from
Ventura. They were identified
as Fred W. Bergman, 43, the
driver; Ronald Grell, Lewis
Shutt, Whitford Allen, and
Lewis D. Willen, 41.
STOCKBROKER DIES
New York -(UPD- L. Martin
Richmond, 78, a stockbroker
and former governor of the
New York Stock Exchange,
died Saturday at a hospital
here.
