Executive Board
Of Local Council
On Aging to Meet
The executive board of the
Rogue Valley Council on
Aging will meet at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Sen
ior Activity Center on East
Jackson st. to review and re
p o r t on recommendations
from the Southern Oregon
Regional conference on aging
here last Saturday.
Panel chairmen, Mrs. Ches
ter Guches, William Hoxie,
Col. Clarence Williams and
Dr. Frank Roberts, will re
p o r t on recommendations
made in their areas. Mrs. C.
D. Thatcher, Mrs. Harry Ful
ler, Robert Haworth and Mrs.
' Rita Holmes, recorders, have
been transcribing discus
sions, some of which were re
corded on tape.
The conference report will
be recorded in the state coun
cil office in Salem, and will
serve as part of the basis for
. the April, 1960, state confer
ence on aging.
About 250 Attend -
About 250 persons from
Jackson, Josephine, Klamath
and Curry counties attended
the conference here, which
- was considered successful, ac
cording to Frank Glonning,
'chairman.
Delegates from .the four
counties attended panel dis
cussions on health, employ
ment, housing and recreation
for older people. A total of
167 attended a luncheon at
the First Methodist church,
site of the conference..
Members of the Medford
Fifty Plus club served on a
reception committee. They in
cluded Mrs. Mary Frederick,
president. Dr. Roberts, Mrs.
Holmes, Mrs. Elsie Trow
bridge, Mrs. Minnie Bolen,
Edward Eick on the informa
tion desk, Hans Jepson, Ed
Wolters, Clarence Evans,
John Gribble and Mrs. Nee tie
Williams.

In charge of the registra
tion desk were Mrs. Thatcher,
- chairman of the, arrange
ments committee, and Mrs.
Elsa Baker, Mrs. Rilla Nor-
ris, Mrs. Lilian Greenman,
Mrs. Clarence Evans and Mrs.
Cora Bashaw. Mrs. Holmes,
librarian at Camp White,
handled advanced registra
tions.
j , The exhibit committee was
. complimented on the hobby
'and crafts exhibits from
Camp White, the Senior Ac
tivity Center and by individ
tials. Among individuals who
exhibited items were Mrs.
Effie Calhoun, Mrs. Lester
Childs, Mrs. Mildred Jefferey
and Mrs. E. A. Brockway.
The Jackson county library,
the state council on aging,
and the health, education and
welfare department also had
displays of literature.
The Senior Activity Center
orchestra presented three
concerts during the confer
ence.
Members of the state coun
cil on aging who attended the
conference included Mrs.
Christine Micelli, Roseburg;
Dr. Walter Brodie, Oregon
City; Mrs. Marshall Cornet,
Klamath Falls, and Mrs. Enid
Rankin, Medford.

convention Wednesday.
General Manager . Charles
Baker of Walla Walla, Wash.,
told the 550 delegates that the
group broke its all-time sales
volume record in fiscal 1958
59 with more than 30 million
dollars in sales.
Among resolutions adopted
was one putting the organiza
tion on record against a rail
road plan for a reduction in
export of grain freight rates.
The group said it felt a reduc
tion would be deterimental to
Columbia River water trans
portation. Another resolution- passed
asked management of the Co
operatives to consider the pos
sibility of instituting a petrol
eum credit card for farm co
op members.

lice report today listed the fol
lowing items stolen from Mrs.
Nancy Hall's car: One port
able radio, two dolls, and one
"authentic shrunken head
from Manila."
