New Aerial Survey
System Given Tests
Los Angeles (Science Serv
ice) - A new electromagnetic
surveying system that can
penetrate the earth five to
six times deeper than conven
tional systems has been suc
cessfully tested. Fairchild Ae

the new AFMAG system is
designed to locate copper and
lead ores. It uses natural
electromagnetic fields of the
earth as a source of energy.
This obviates a transmitter
and is said to enable AFMAG
surveys to be made from con
ventional aircraft at speeds
and elevations previously impractical.
