St. Mary's will go into the

Wyatt Selected
Coach of Week
For 2nd Time
Knoxville, Tenn. -flOT- The
way he had it figured, nation
al champion Louisiana State
would give the ball to Ail
American Billy Cannon and
send him slashing off-tackle
if it ever needed a two-point
conversion badly. '
LSU sent Cannon slashing,
all right, but he was met al
most head-on by guard Wayne
Grubb and linebacker" Char
ley Severance and stopped six
inches short of victory.
That's why Bowden Wyatt
of Tennessee is honored by
United Press International to
day as ' college football's
"Coach of the Week" in the
wake of Tennessee's 14-13 tri
umph, that snapped LSU's 19
game winning streak and
tumbled the Tigers from the
No. 1 spot in the national
ratings.
It's most unusual for a
coach to win this honor twice
in one season, but that's what
Wyatt has done. Earlier this
year he had been named when
his Volunteer "streak-busters"
whipped Auburn, 3-0, to end
Auburn's 24-game unbeaten
streak. "

Try and Stop Me
By BENNETT CERF-
IN HIS entertaining "The Scandalous Scamps,' Harold
MeMing tells the story of one Cassie Chadwick, who had
a high old time until the cops caught up with, her posing
as the daughter of steel
tycoon Andrew Carnegie.
Cassie ostentatiously de
posited huge bundles of
"securities" (blank paper
they turned out to be) in
various safe deposit
vaults; hinting that Papa
Carnegie had given her
another little bundle. '
Bankers and merchants
nodded approvingly and
gave her unlimited credit
-at high rates of interest.
One day tha charming
Chadwick came . upon a
grand piano that struck her fancy. "How many of these do you
have in stock? she asked the store proprietor. "Twenty-seven,"
be told her. "Good," said Cassie, "I'll take them all" and she
sent one grand piano to each of. 27 friends. They were among the
chief mourners, of course, when Cassie was led away to the pokey. '
