Interboard Session
" More than 200 Methodist
men who are members of
boards and commissions,
chairmen and pastors of the
church in southern Oregon
will be in Medford Monday,
Nov. 2, during an Interboard
school.
Bishop A. Raymond Grant,
Portland, will attend the
school. Presiding at the event
will be the Rev. Lawrence
Guderian, Forest Grove dis
trict superintendent.
The meeting will begin at
1:30 p.m. The schools are held
to help local churches meet
their own needs and to in
crease their effectiveness by
training. Dr. George G. Rose
berry, host pastor, reported. .
Instructing the various di
visions will be Richard G.
Belcher, missions; Glenn S.
Gothard, education; Robert C.
Williams, stewardship and fi
nance; C. Lloyd Daugherty,
membership and evangelism;
and Carl D. Soule. Christian
social relations. All are from
Portland. Bishop Grant will
meet with the ministers. t
Following the six work
shops all groups will meet
together at 8 p.m. The pro
gram will adjourn at 9 p.m.

Conference Slated
The Crater Lake Council
Explorer "Citizens Now" con
ference will be held at South
ern Oregon college, Ashland,
the week end of Nov. 20, ac
cording to Jim Schmidt, gen
eral chairman.
The conference is open to
all explorers' in posts and sen
ior Scouts in Troops in the
council. Senior Girl Scouts
wiil take part in Saturday's
program, Schmidt said.
The program is to acquaint
Explorers with the duties and
responsibilities that they have
as "citizens now." The pro
gram will include outstanding
speakers on subjects of inter
est to teenagers, basketball
games, discissions and de
bates on current teenage citi
zenship topics, and a banquet.
Housing for Explorers will
be provided on the SOC cam
pus, and most meals will be
served at the commons on the
campus.
Morse Sees Need
For Law Prof ecf ion
Boston - (UPD - Sen.' Wayne
Morse (D-Ore.) said Thursday
night that Congress has "a
lorg way to go" in regard to
civil rights.
The senator told the Suffolk
University law school alumni
that Congress "must soon
enact substantial, meaningful
statutes to give effective pro
tection to the constitutional
right to vote in federal elec
tions and for the constitution
al right - for all persons in
our great country - to equal
protection of the laws."
The senator, once a Repub
lican, was sharply critical of
the Eisenhower administra
tion and accused the President
of failing to "do hi3 duty at
Little Rock."

Injured in Mishap
Alexander Alvarez, 44, of
Central Point, was treated
at Rogue Valley hospital for
injuries and released follow
ing a two-car collision near
Crater High school in Central
Point Thursday night, hospit
al attendants said.

and Fred Wynn Milani, 18, of
route 1, box 507, Central
Point, collided at the inter
section of the Highway 99
