Camp White Reviewed

teer Services program have
become valued members at
the domiciliary, Henry C.
Herzog, manager at the Camp
White Domiciliary, noted last
week. :
"We are aware," Herzog
said, "of the danger inherent
in a static protected situation.
However, our domiciliary pro
gram emphasises a dynamic
purposeful daily activity plan
for each member."
Herzog cited a community
program designed for those
over -50 years of age which
brings the community to the
. domiciliary and developed
under the VAVS program.
Domiciliary members
. formed an organization of 50
Plus and it has now affiliated
with a similar club in Med
4 ford. The combined clubs also
join with clubs at Grants Pass
' and other communities in so
cial events, educational and
leisure-time activities.
"The two affiliated, clubs,"
Hegeog said, "comprising men
and women from the domicili
ary and the community clos-"
est to it meet regularly with
' interchanging meeting loca
tions and plan diversified pro
grams for each combined
meeting. Whenever the group
meets at Camp White, the sta
tion orchestra furnishes dance
music.
"A great many fine things
' have developed since the or
ganization of the Camp White
club," he said, "principally in
the development of responsi
bility in planning their own
programs, resocialization and
making acquaintances : with
new people of the community.
This association has interested
many elderly, retired people
in the community who be
come interested in the Volun
tary Services program. Re
cently the Medford 50 Plus
club was approved for repre
sentation on the Camp White
VAVS Advisory committee.

domiciliary, is head of the
Rogue Valley Council on
Aging.., Oregon leaders in the
problems of an aging popula
tion ; will hold ; a state-wide
meeting during 1960 in pre

ing, : called by the White
House in 1961. , ; - A
