sion producer fired by the
NBC network, testified today
that he advised 25 or 30 per
sons to lie to a New York
Grand Jury investigating
rigged TV quiz shows.
Howard D. Felsher, dis
charged a week ago by NBC
as producer of the "Tic-Tac-Dough"-
program, made the
statement in testimony before
a House investigating sub
committee. He had testified
previously that at least three
out of four contestants on the
night-time version of that pro
gram had received question
and answer information in ad
vance. : Subcommittee counsel Rob
ert. W. Lishman asked Felsh
er about his contacts with
contestants prior to the Grand
Jury proceedings. Felsher said
he met with four or five indi
viduals but telephoned to 22
or 23 of them.
No Word From Van Doren
The subcommittee , waited,
meanwhile, v for ' an answer
from Charles Van Doren, 33,
big money, winner on the old
"21" show, invited to appear
as a witness.
Felsher said he told "Tic-Tac-Dough"
contestants that
"if I were to testify before
the Grand Jury I would deny
that I had given them ques
tions and answers in , ad
vance." .
, He also said, in response
to a question, that he suggest
ed that contestants also deny
that they had received such
assistance.
Asked whether . Dan En

to make the suggestion, Felsh
er said no.
Affidavit Refused
NBC fired Felsher as pro
ducer after he was subpoe
naed by the subcommittee and
refused last' week to supply
NBC with ',. an affidavit that
he had not supplied contest
ants with answers in ad
vance
Of his Grand Jury advice
to contestants,. 'Felsher said:
"I was panicked-terrorizedr-
I just did it.".;.,,
He usually ' met with con
testants in his office to give
them the information Feign
er said, but sometimes did so
at his home and sometimes
in his automobile.
In some instances, he said,
he explained to new contest
ants that they were being
brought in to cut down the
winnings "of highly successful
contestants.
Van Doren Suspended
Felsher said that, to the
best of his recollection, no
one at NBC asked him until
last week whether he sup
plied advanced questions and
answers to "Tic-Tac-Dough"
contestants.
The National Broadcasting
Co. suspended Van Doren
from his $50,000 job which
features him in appearances
on the early morning "To
day" show. The scholar also
teaches , at Columbia Univer
sity. A substitute teacher han
dled his 'classes today. He was
suspended by the network
until questions raised by the
House .'subcommittee are re
solved;

consecutive time. It was an

Woodford admitted they
couldn't find it in their hearts
to vote against him.
There has been much talk
that this would be Sir Win
ston's last political , battle.
That talk apparently got back
to the old warrior, for the
Conservative committeeman
from Woodford, Jack Frost,
issued this statement:
"The feeling among us is
that as long as his body lasts
Sir Winston will continue to
be a member of Parliament."
