Junior Women's Club Has
Annual Membership Party
Twelve guests attended the
annual membership party
which ' members of Medf ord
Junior Women's club held last
Wednesday evening.
Mrs. William Sweet, presi-
dent, welcomed the group and
told of the origin of the club
in 1958 as an educational and
philanthropic organization
within the Oregon Federation
of Women's, clubs. She outlin
ed the work of the local group
in civic projects, the most im
portant, being the clothing
pool set up within the Medford
elementary school system and
maintained by club members.
Clean and adequate clothing is
in constant readiness for. dis
tribution by. school nurses
wherever needed in the dis
trict. ,

won a blue ribbon and $10 in the young
art exhibit at the fair. The horse is fastened
on a "free form" plywood base with a metal
armature supporting the rear legs.

school district nurse, spoke in
formally, telling of the need
for clothing for youngsters
during the cold months. She
told of the valuable aid being
given along these lines.

Organ Program
Planned Here
Porter Heaps, Columbia re
cording artist and organist,
will present a program of
organ music at the Medford
High school auditorium Thurs
day, October 8, at 8 p.m. The
Hammond Organ society and
Purucker Music House are
sponsoring the appearance.
Mr. Heaps will discuss and
demonstrate the simplicity
with which the organ can
be played and show special
effects, registration and ar
rangement of popular music.
He also will demonstrate the
chord organ.
The musician has appeared
throughout the world as a con
cert artist and lecturer. He
has been guest soloist with
the Detroit and Chicago Sym
phony orchestras, as well as
organist and choir director-at
St. Matthew's Episcopal
church in Evanston.
No admission charge will
be. made for the program and
the public is invited.

Medford Sojourners will
meet Thursday, October 8, at
12:30 pjn. at the Girls Com
munity club.

Meeting
For Parents
Announced
First meeting of St. Mary's
Grade School Parents' club
for the 1959-60 season has
been scheduled for 8 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 5, in the activi
ties room of the school.
A special invitation has
been extended by Carl M.
Brophy, president of the club,
to the parents of all new pu
pils of the school to attend
the meeting and become ac-i
quainted with the teachers,
officers and other parents.
Sister Gerard Mary has re
turned this year as Superior
of the convent. Sister M. Inez
Joan is the new principal of
the grade school.
Officers assisting Brophy
this year include Joe Zaro
sinski, vice president; Mrs.
James Pullman, secretary;
and Mrs. Robert Stewart,
treasurer. A new parliamen
tarian will be selected to re
place Dan Christianson who
moved to Portland. Mrs.
Frank J, Gritsch will be chair
man of room mothers.
Hostesses for the social
hour following the business
meeting will be Mrs. John
Jensen and mothers of Sister
Karen Rose's first grade
room. Mrs. Stewart will as
sist with greetings.

The fall meeting of Siski
you district, The Oregon State
Federation of Garden Clubs,
Inc., will be held October 14,
at the First Methodist church,
corner West Main and Laurel
streets, in Medford.
The Medford Garden club
will be hostesses for the meet
ing. Registration will start at
9 a.m. with the business meet
ing at 10 a.m. Luncheon will
be served in the church dining
room at noon. Members should
