The executive's firm is

"Many persons are sur

heads an auto agency," she
said. "I don't see anything so
odd about it.
"My husband, Elwyn, was
a car dealer and a client of a
law firm for which I worked
in the San Fernando Valley,
where my agencies are. After
we were married, I became
secretary and treasurer of his
agency and later vice presi

became president."
The versatile grandmother

She also relaxes by going deer

"I have 160 persons work
ing for me," she said. "I make
it a point to get away from
my desk as often as I can. I
talk cars with salesmen and
mechanics, and I even sell a
few when it doesn't upset the
organization or our company.
"Men didn't want me to be
a dealer," she said. "They
said it wasn't the kind of
work a woman should do.

Roast Corn in Foil
Remove husks and silk
from fresh corn and soak the
ears in cold water with a
tablespoon of salt added for
each quart of water,. Soak
only 5 minutes, then drain and
wrap the ears in squares of
aluminum foil and place in
an oven, preheated to 450 de
grees. Cook 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve with plenty of butter,
chili powder, salt and pepper.
Fast cooling after cooking
is the way to prevent dark
circles around the yolks of
hard-cooked eggs. A chemical
change takes place inside the
egg when it overcooks, or is
left to cool in the water in
which it cooked. The dark
circle is harmless, but it mars
the appearance. Cold running
water halts the chemical
change. , - . .
I Venerable Vegetable
New York - (DPD - Brussels
sprouts are a venerable veg
etable. The first ones were
found growing near Brussels,
Belgium, in 1213. But they
were not grown commercially
in the United States until
1909, when farmers planted
them in California's Pedro
Valley.
Today, Brussels sprouts are
a 50-million pound a year
business in this country with
California producing 85 per
cent of the annual crop.
Ninety-six per cent of the
crop is frozen for year-round
use.
