Portland Church Scene
Of Day-Anderson Rites
Mr. and Mrs. Christopher
C. Day, whose "wedding was
an event of June 20 in Port
land, were in the valley last
week as guests of Mr. Day's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Benjamin Day Jr., Sams Val
ley. The bride is the former
Marilyn Anderson, daughter
of Oscar A. Anderson, Port
land.
The marriage Ceremony
took place at Holy Family
Catholic church, with the
Rev. John J. Walsh celebrat
ing the nuptial high mass at
10 o clock in the morning. The

their daughter, Judy, to Den
nis Barr, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George C. Barr, 530 Fairmont

Both young people were
graduated from Medford sen
ior high school this spring and
plan to enter the University
of Oregon in the fall.
Mr. Barr "was active in sports
at the school and recently
played in the Oregon all-star
baseball game. He was also
president of the choir. Both
of the couple sang in the
group and took part in drama
tics. .
Miss McGraw was a mem
ber of the rally squad for two
years. She is employed at
Pick's Apparel and her fiance
is employed at Sierra Cascade
Pine company.
Their wedding has been set
for the Christmas holidays.

Mrs. I. E. Schuler has re
turned to her home on High
land drive after spending the
past year and a half in Vien
na, Austria, and other Euro
pean cities. Mrs. Schuler ar
rived in the United States sev
eral weeks ago and has been
in Portland with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Walker Treece.

tilla of Chantilly lace. She car

Mrs. Ronald Allio and Miss
Joan Anderson, both sisters of
the bride from Portland, were
the other attendants. All wore
short blue frocks and carried
pink and white carnations
Robert L. Smith Jr., Eugene
was best man for Mr. Day and
ushers were Charles Haase
and Norman Anderson, Port
land, and Peter Albrecht,
Manhattan Beach, Calif.
The church decorations
were of gladiolus.

the ceremony and the recep
tion which followed.

The evening before the
wedding the bridegroom's par
ents were hosts for' a dinner at
the ImDerial hotel in Port
land. Thirty guests attended.
Mr. Day and his bride spent
their honeymoon on the Ore
gon coast. The bride attended
Holy Child academy, Maryl
hurst college and the Art In
stitute of Chicago: Mr. Day
attended Crater High school,
Reed college and the Univer
sity of Chicago.

el Libbey daughter of the

bey, 247 Oak street, Ashland,
became the bride of Neil Ten
nyson Dodge of Boothbay Har
bor, Maine, in a ceremony held
on Saturday, June 20. The
bridegroom's parents are Mr,
and Mrs. Charles Dodge,
Boothbay Harbor.
The Rev. Ray .Nelson of
Berean Baptist church, White
City, performed the service at
eight o'clock in the evening
in First Baptist church, Ash
land. The bride's father is
pastor of the church in which
the wedding was held.
Guests numbered 200.
The Rev. Mr. Libbey gave
his daughter in marriage. She
wore a ballerina length gown
of white brocade and a finger
tip length veil. She carried a
white Bible with pink carna
tions and gardenias.
Attendants were the bride's
sister, Miss Joan Libbey, who
was maid of honor, and Miss
Linda Clark of Ashland. They
wore pink and aquamarine
princess style dresses of lace
over taffeta and carried bou
quets of pink carnations and
roses.
Best man was Richard Bas-
tow of Boothbay Harbor, the
bridegroom's brother-in-law.
Ushers were Gerald Eurich
and Vernon Alley of Ashland,
and John Shaw of Hilt, Calif.
Pink and white carnations,
gladioli, Shasta daisies and
roses decorated the church.
Ronny Raymond was organist
and Mrs. Gerald Eurich sang.
Following the ceremony the
bride's parents gave a recep
tion at the parsonage. Mrs.
Rodney Merrhnan was in
charge. She was assisted by
Mrs. Ray Nelson, who cut
the cake, and Mrs. William
Beck, who poured punch.
The couple made a weddmg
trip to Yosemite and Santa
Barbara, Calif., with the bride
wearing a beige sheath for
traveling.
They are living at 3178 Pe
cos street, North Las Vegas,
Nev.
The bride is a 1959 gradu
ate of Ashland High school.
Mr. Dodge is an airman first
class serving at Nellis Air
Force Base in Nevada.
League Event
Set Wednesday

Anyone interested in the
Medford League of Women
Voters is invited to attend the
annual summer picnic of the
group, planned for Wednes
day, July 8. It will be held at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
John S. Day located on a hill
overlooking Gold Rey dam.
A salad luncheon will be
served buffet style at 12:30
p jn. according to the chair
man, Mrs. John Weisel. A
short presentation of the
league program to inform wo
men about the processes of
government is planned, and
the remainder of the after
noon will be spent with bridge
and swimming.
Mrs. Thomas Rutter is in
charge of the program. '
The president, Mrs. Dunbar
Carpenter, points out that ev
ery woman of voting age is
eligible, to belong to . the
league. Reservations may be

San Francisco, visited last
week with Mrs. Annavelle W.
Smith at the home of Mrs.
Smith's father, Amos W. Walk
er, 1789 Stewart avenue.
Mrs. Smith, who resides in
Seattle, is spending her vaca
tion with her father.
The Coghlans were en route
to the Canadian Rockies. Mr.
Coghlan, now retired, was
formerly with Braden Copper
mines in Santiago, Chile,
where the couple and Mrs.
Smirfi became friends many
years ago.

Lingren-Palmer Wedding
Held in Medford Church
An event of June 19 was the
wedding of Miss Victoria Pal
mer and Ronald A. Lingren at
First Presbyterian church. Dr.
D. Kirkland West officiated at
the double-ring ceremony held
at 8 o'clock in the evening and
attended by 125 relatives and
friends.
The bride is a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd V. Palmer,
2500 Finley lane. Mr. Lingren
is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Her
bert S. Lingren, 2386 Table
Rock road. '
Mr. Palmer gave his daugh
ter in marriage. She wore a
white Chantilly lace gown
with bouffant skirt of bal
lerina , length and her short
veil was held by a pearl head
dress. She carried a cascade of
stephanotis and a white or
chid. Miss Mary Kay Olson, cous
in of the bride, served as maid
of honor. Miss Susan Hall and
Miss Margaret McCoy were
bridesmaids.
Miss Olson wore a pink bro
caded satin sheath dress and
carried a bouquet of white
Ester Reed daisies. The brides
maids wore dresses of similar
design and also carried daisies.
Trientje Olson, cousin of the
bride, was flower girl. Candle
lighters were Miss Marilyn
Kantor and Miss Noralie
Busey.
Nick Lingren served as best
man for his brother and ushers
were Don Lingren, a cousin,
James Martolin and Norman
Barnes.
Miss Judy Reibe had charge
of the guest book. Miss Teresa
Olson and Miss Alana Busey
assisted with the gifts.
Mrs. H. E. Marsh was or
ganist and Miss Colleen Barr
was soloist.
The church was decorated
with white gladioli and palms.

dessert was served.
Twenty-six women attend
ed. Their gifts to the bride-to-be
were presented in a Cen
tennial theme using a covered
wagon. It contained a minia
ture bride and bridegroom
"driving" to Springfield,
where Miss Cook will teach
music in schools there next
year while Mr. Gault will fin
ish his senior year at the Uni
versity of Oregon.
Their wedding is set for
July 25.

Seven Medford High school
orchestra members will at
tend the University of Oregon
summer music camp, and
John E. Drysdale, orchestra
director, will be on the teach
ing staff.
The camp will be held July
5 to 17 and students attending
will receive training in music
theory, and chamber music as
well as playing in the orches
traStudents from all over the
Pacific northwest will attend.
The students from Medford

Peters and Walter Ayres.
The camp will close with a
concert Friday, July 17.
