Baby Trampled

Maywood, Calif.-(DPD-A,7-
month-old baby was knocked
from his carriage and tram
pled in the street Wednesday
by a distraught ' 1,150-pound
steer.
The frightened and enraged
animal escaped from a pack
ing house lot and made a mile
long charge through the
streets, scattering pedestrians
and vehicles before being
felled by one of 30 shots fired
by pursuing policemen. One
officer was knocked down but
uninjured.
The infant, Michael Searle,
son of Mrs. Kenneth Searle,
was taken to Maywood hos
pital suffering from a possi
ble concussion and numerous
cuts and bruises. His condi
tion was listed as fair.
