Holiday Visitors Named

Hornbrook - The historic
old Henley-Hornbrook ceme
tery attracted the usual num
'br of visitors over the Me
morial Day week end.
Names registered in the
visitor's book showed that 33
distant towns were represent
ed, ranging from Eugene and
5Pneville, Ore., in the north
to Los Angeles in the south.
Yreka headed the list with
23 names, while Medford ran
a close second with 21.
X A number of visitors
availed themselves of the op
portunity of having dinner at
tho Grange hall, with some
coming from Medford and
Applegate Valley especially
for the drive over and the din
ner. The dinner committee of
the Grange headed by Mrs.
Ben Phillips, has expressed
appreciation to all who at
tended the dinner.
A dinner was given at the
home of Mrs. Grace Tyrer on
Memorial Day for friends and
relatives. The dinner, pre
pared by . her daughters-in-
law, Mrs. Albert Wedin and
Mrs. Allie Tyrer. both of
Yreka, was attended by Mr.
and Mrs. Willard Jones of
WhitUer, Calif., , Herschel
Jones of Los Angeles, Roy
Jones Jr. of San Francisco,
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hansen
and daughter of Brownsboro,
Ore., Hugh Vettel and Mrs.
Stella Cooley of Yreka, Mrs,
Edith Young of Grenada,
Calif., and Mrs. Mollie Cole,
Dr. and Mrs. Roy Jones Sr,
of Fairfax, Calif., had planned
to come up also for the week
end, but at the last minute,
Mrs. Jones suffered a broken
foot in an accident in her
home, so they were unable to
come.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid Renfro
of Sacramento spent the week
end here with herabrother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs.
L. E. tfeter. Last weef, the
Jeter's son. Bill, was home
on Rave from the White Sands
Missile range in New Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Spearin
of Rumsey, Calif., and his
sister, Mrs. -Guy (Viola) Mur
phy of Salinas, Calif., were
here for the holiday week end
to visit their mother, Mrs. Jim
(Maud) Spearin, who is ser
iously ill in Sacred Heart hos
pital in Medford.

Calif., and her daughter, Mrs.

and Mrs. Andren Skeahan.
Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Baily
came down from Portland,
Ore., to see their granddaugh
ter, Suzzan Kutzkey, receive
her diploma. From Jackson
ville, Ore., were Mr. and Mrs.
Claude Spiegle and sons, Dell
and Hardy, aunt uncle, and
cousins of graduate Donna
Jean Spearin. Relatives of
Maxine Freitas here were her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Sargent Barnes of Yreka, and
her aunt and uncle and cous
ins, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Freitas and Don and Mike of
Montague.
Coming from Sacramento
were Mr. and Mrs. Berrettini
and two sons. Mrs. Berrettini
is Terry Cobb's mother. Terry
has made his home here with
his grandmother, Mrs. Jeanne
Cunningham, and attended his
last three years of school here.
Mrs. Cunningham teaches in
the local grammar school.
Mrs. Ida Sloan is staying
with Mrs. Grace Tyrer now
and caring for her.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Fick
were "drop-in" visitors at his
parent's home Tuesday eve
ning. The young couple, son
and daughter-in-law of Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Chapman,
were returning to their home
in Canyonville, Ore., rom a
five-day business trip to Liver
more, Calif.

man's on Memorial Day were
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams
of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Wil
liams is the former Harriet
Hobson, and lived here a num
ber of years ago. Mrs. Hob
son, her mother, is now 90
years old, and makes her
home with the Williams.

Mrs. Bill Beall of Medford,
and Mrs. Beall's mother, Mrs.
Guy Kraft of Yreka.

It would be hard to say
whether the fish or the fisher
men were more plentiful up
and down the Klamath river
over the holiday week end.
"A toss-up," some seasoned
fishermen said, when they ar
rived to find their favorite
riffle already manned by an-
otner hopeful fisherman or
two. Particularly on the up
per reaches of the river was
it noticeably "over-staffed,"
while farther down, in the
Ash creek area, fishing was
reported good, with not too
much competition from other
