May 30, 1884. She had been

Oregon for many years, hav
ing lived in Grants Pass and
Ashland.
She is survived by a son,
Walter Howard, of Berkeley,
Calif.; a daughter, Altena Tur
bin, of Grants Pass: two
sisters, Mrs. Bernice Gardner,
Portland, and Mrs. Naomi
Hale, of Salem.

moved to Tacoma, and had
lived in Medford since Janu
ary. Her husband, Frederick
J. Owens,! died in 1928, and

Buyers Attracted
By Stock Decline

Tuesday's decline attracted
buyers early in the session
when the electronics register
ed wide gains and many spe
cial issues moved ahead.
Enough of the leaders rose to
help restore some of the in
dustrial group's loss. Rails
dipped most of the day but
many were firmer as the close
neared.
; Utilities registered their
12th .decline in 13 sessions.
Aluminum issues ruled strong
with gains ranging to more
than 2 points in Alcoa which
has just been included in the
group used to calculate the
industrial average. Kennecott
led the coppers higher.
Automobile issues were
firmer. J. I. Case rose a point.
Textron was bid up on an in
crease in its dividend. Litton
Industries spurted when the
company was named to de
velop a guidance system for
the Eagle missile.

Woman Gets Year
For Manslaughter
Pendleton - (UPB - Mrs.
Veronica Jamison, 37, today
switched her plea from inno
cent to guilty on a, man
slaughter charge in connec
tion with a fatal automobile
accident. She was sentenced
to a maximum term of a year
in the state p nitentiary.
Mrs. Jamison, the mother
of seven children and two
step-children, was indicted in
connection with the death of
her aunt, Mrs. Isabella
French, 65, White Swan,
Wash., on May 7. Mrs. French
died when the car in which
she was riding was struck
from behind by one driven by
Mrs. Jamison. '
