day after a nine-day vacation
In Italy and France that set
off rumors of a new romance,
t Smiling and radiant, she
stepped off an airliner from
Paris today without a word
about the headlines that link
ed her name to that of Prince
Henry of Hesse, a surrealist
painter, who was her constant
companion in Rome.
Buckingham Palace circles
speculated that she might have
a reunion with him next June
when she goes to Portugal.
The prince is a nephew of ex
King Umberto of Italy who
lives in exile in Portugal.
Apparently recovered from
Sunday's attack of flu, the
pretty princess was seen off
at Paris by British Ambassa
dor Sir Gladwyn Jebb and
other officials.

the princess' traveling com
panion, remained in the
French capital to visit the
Paris International Flower
show.
The princess was confined
to her room in Paris after she
returned from church with
Queen Mother Elizabeth Sun
day. She caught cold after an
exhausting six-day visit to
Rome and a more somber vis
it to Paris.

that should be studied by all
students capable of future col
lege work is outlined in a
63-page report by the Com
mission of Mathematics of the
College Entrance Examination
Board here, entitled "Program
for College Preparatory
Mathematics."
Significant Terms
"College entrance require
ments should be restated in
broad and significant terms
designed to encourage schools
to introduce curricula and
courses oriented toward the
development of mathematical
power, insight and understand
ing, rather than toward cov
erage of formalized material."
As many as possible of the
college-capable must be urged
to study challenging mathe
matics for four years in high
school, the report said. None

6. Incorporating some coor
dinate geometry, solid geome
try and space perception with
plane geometry.
7. Introduction in grade 11
of fundamental trigonometry,
centered on coordinates, vec
tors and complex numbers.
8. Emphasis in grade 12 on
elementary functions (polyno
mial exponential, circular)..
9. Recommendation of addi
tional alternative units for
grade 12; either introductory
probability with statistical ap
plications or an introduction
to modern algebra.
Sawdust Cave-in
Hurts 4 Persons
Vancouver. Wash. - (UPD -
Four persons were in St. Jo
seph's hospital here with in
juries after a huge sawdust
pile at an abandoned sawmill
near Skamania caved in on
them Sunday.
The four were John Ku
hnke, Vancouver, David
Schenz, 42, also of Vancouver
and his two step-children,
James Robert Portal, 12, and
Gloria Diane Portal, 10.
Attendants at the hospital
said the four were apparently
getting sawdust for use at
home when the pile fell on
them.
Kuhnke and the young boy
were completely buried and
the girl was buried up to her
shoulders.
Two other men getting saw
dust, Robert Wittenberg, Se
attle and Frank Duncan of
Portland, rescued them.
Kuhnke suffered a possible
hip fracture and a broken leg
and the girl suffered a severe
head cut when a piece of wood
hit her, attendants said.
Khrushchev Back
At Moscow Stand
London-(UPD-Soviet Premier
Nikita Khrushchev turned up
back in Moscow today after
a month's absence that set off
rumors he was ill.
Without any fanfare, Radio
Moscow broadcast a single
sentence report that Khrush
chev "today received in the
Kremlin the leader of the
Greek Progressive party,
Spyros Markezinis, and had
a talk with him.','
This was the long -waited
signal that Khrushchev, who
disappeared from the Soviet
capital a month ago on a high
ly unusual spring vacation to
the Crimea, was back in Mos
cow and operating again.
Neither his departure nor
his return had been reported
as such by Soviet officials.

Crash on Klamath
River Kills Man

accident on the Klamath river
highway early today claimed
the life of Carl Lynn Nelson,
24, Everett, Wash.
California state patrolmen
said Nelson was drowned
when his car plunged over a
bank about 25 miles north
west of here.
Nelson was a lumber
worker.
