Business Women's Styles
To Be Modeled at Show
Plans for a style show and
luncheon which will be given
Thursday, April 30, were
made at the recent meeting of
the Women's Association of
Allied Beverage industries at
the Holland hotel.
The show will be held at
the Pioneer room of the Jack
son 'hotel from 12 noon until
1 p.m. The show, directed to
business women, will include
summer apparel suitable for
both business and vacation
wear.
Models will be from the
Arthur Murray Dance Studio
with music by Caesar Muz
zioli. Reservations may be made
by contacting the Jackson ho
tel, SPring 2-6231. Funds
raised by the group are used
for child welfare in the val
ley. The next meeting of Wom
en's Association of Allied Bev
erage industries will be held
Tuesday, May 5, officers will
be elected.
The national convention of
the association will be held
in San Diego, Calif., from

St. Catherine's guild of St.
Mark's Episcopal church has
set Tuesday, May 12, as the
date of the annual spring card
party. It will be held in the
Parish and St. Mark's Guild

Concert
Hostesses
Announced
Mrs. J. C. Collins and Mrs.
James Stevens will be honor
ary hostesses for the coffee
hour to be held during inter
mission of the concert to be
given today by the Philhar
monic Society 'of Southern
Oregon. The concert is set for
3 p.m. at Medford High school,
and coffee will be served dur
ing intermission.
The honorary hostesses are
chosen by the Philharmonic
guild.
This is the final concert of
the season, and will be di
rected by Richard D. Werner.
A Beethoven overture and
Bizet's "Symphony in C. Ma
jor" make up the first half of
the program.
The concluding half of the
program will be a ballet by
students of the Colleen Hope
studio to the music of "La
Boutique Fantasque."
Tickets will be on sale at
the box office.

Announces Visit
Sgt. Arleen Patt will be at
the Army Recruiting office
here Monday, April 27, to talk
with girls interested in the
Women's Army Corps.

Convention of the Oregon

Teachers in Corvallis, April

Emerson Anderson, president

council. She will attend the

Benton hotel.
Mrs. Leigh Gustison of
Medford is the nominee for
president of the Oregon Con
gress of Parents and Teachers.

avenue, was one of the 20
Oregon high school students
to win an award in the Na
tional High School Art Exhi
bition of Scholastic Magazine
in New York recently.
Miss Clark's work, a Brayer
print, was one of the 200
chosen as a first place win
ner in the state contest held
in February at the J. K. Gill
company in Portland. Of the
200 state winners 100 were
selected for national compe
tition at the Coliseum in New
York.
Miss Clark is a second year
art student of Warren Hol
brook at Crater High school.

munity club.
The event, will start

belonging to Mrs. Leo Thom
as. The mandrake plant was
grown from seeds sent to Mrs
Hoist by the curator at the
Hebrew University of Jerusa
lem, Israel, and is seldom
seen in the United States. The
dittany plant seldom produces
seeds and as it dies quickly
must be propagated by plant
ing slips.
Mrs. Frank Carson will
make the dried herb seed pod
arrangement and explain it,
as well as the fresh herb cen
terpiece for the tea table.

gle and Mrs. John Ostrander,
Refreshments will include
herb-bread sandwiches, herb
seed cookies, herb flavored
candies-, crystallized violets,
primroses, and mint leaves
and herb tisanes.
The meeting will be visi
tors' day and all persons in
terested in herbs are invited
to attend.
Scout Festival
To Be Rehearsed
The Rogue Valley Girl
Scout Council will hold its
Medford District May Festival
rehearsal at the Medford High
school football field Saturday,
May 2, from 1:30 until
3:30 p.m.
The festival will be held
May 28.
All girls and adults of the
Medford district have been
asked by the council to at
tend this rehearsal. It was
mentioned that the special
dance numbers will not be
included at the rehearsal.
Mrs. Darrell Huson, song
director, will rehearse songs
from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. with
Mrs. Kenneth Brown playing
for the singing.
Miss Colleen Hope will re
hearse the group dances from
2:30 until 3:30 p.m. The wear
ing of festival costumes is
optional for the practice, it
was reported.
