beginning at 1030 a.m., .May 18,
1959. for all merchantable timber
marked or designated for cutting on
an area embracing about 288 acres,
more or less, within sections 5 and
6, T. 36 S., R. 4 E W.M.. surveyed,
in the Butte Falls Ranger District.
Rogue River National Forest. Jack
son County. Oregon. The estimated
volumes are 1600 M board feet of
Douglas-fir. 800 M board feet of
ponderosa pine, 400 M board feet
oz sugar pine, ana iuu iti uucuu
feet of white fir and other species.
The minimum acceptable bid per
M board feet is as follows: Jjouglas
fir $30.70, ponderosa pine S32.80.
sugar pine $28-09. white fir and
others $10.50. This includes the
following stumpage rates, per M
board feet: Douglas-fir $25.00, pon
derosa pine , $27.10, sugar pine
$2230. white fir and others $8.45,
plus $4.65 for Douglas-fir, pon

$1.00 for white fir and others for
sale area betterment and $1.05 for
slash disposal for all species. In
addition there is within the sale
area an unestimated volume of
Douglas-fir cull peeler material
which will be paid for at $2.00 per
M board feet gross scale for stump
age only. As a qualification for
oral bidding, all bidders must sub
mit a sealed bid accompanied by
the required payment to the Forest
Supervisor prior to 1030 a.m. May
18, 1959. Sealed bids will be posted
at the beginning of the auction for
the information of all bidders. A
money order, bank draft, cashier's
or certified check in the sum of
$7,000.00 must accompany each bid,
to be applied on the purchase price,
refunded, or retained in part as
liquidated damages, according to
the conditions of sale. It requested
by tr.e purchaser, contract terms
will permit felling of timber in ad
vance of payment up to the value
of the performance bond. If an oral
bid is declared to be high at the
closing of the auction, the bidder
must immediately confirm the oral
bid by submitting it in writing on
a Forest Service bid form. The right
to reject any and all bids is re
served. Forest Service bid forms for
use in submitting sealed bids and
full information concerning the
timber, the conditions of sale and
submission of bids should be ob
tained from the District Ranger.
