Entry Blanks Are
Received for Art
Show in Valley
Blanks have been received
for the use of southern Ore
gon artists in entering works
in the coming art show being
sponsored by the Oregon Cen
tennial commission in cooper

They are available at Puruck
er's Music house, Medford.
Mrs. Ada Andrews, society
president, said that only 20
blanks were sent, and that an
additional supply has been re
quested. However, pictures
may be entered without the
blank if the required informa
tion accompanies the picture.
Since Jhe Portland chairmen
of the art show indicate that
the supply of blanks is limit
ed, Mrs. Andrews asks that
only artists definitely plan
ning to enter the show take
the blanks.
According to the informa
tion received from Portland,
any media but sculpture will
be accepted. Those eligible
are artists born in Oregon,
those now residing in Oregon
or those who formerly lived
in the state for at least two
vears. Each artist may sub
mit three pictures; however,
there is no assurance that all
three will be shown, Mrs. An
drews states.
Oregon Scene Theme
Pictures are to be in "The
Oregon Scene" theme and
4 this may be interpreted in a
realistic, abstract or symbol
ical fashion, according to the
state chairmen. Artists are
asked to make their pictures
indicative of the "environ
ment in which they live and
work."
Those entering are urged
to accompany each picture
with the information asked
for on the entry blank. They
are to be taken to Puruckers
March 15-20, will be juried
March 21 add hung for ex
hibition March 22-27.

County Business
Licenses Discussed

counties to license businesses
outside cities to control their
operations was supported by
county officials and opposed

now cannot exercise over san
itation and safety in opera

Oregon Counties, said the
measure has support of offi
cials of all 36 counties.
Kersey Eldrige, president of
the Oregon Distributors Asso
ciation, said the measure, was
"all embracing'' and should
identify specifically what bus
inesses could be licensed.
Four-Year Terms
In House Proposed .
Salem -UPD- A resolution
was introduced in the House
today by 32 representatives
and four senators to provide
for a four-year term for repre
sentatives in the state legisla
ture. It also would authorize
staggering of terms to the ef
fect that there will be a turn
over of one-half of the mem
bership each election.
State representatives now
serve two-year terms. State
senators now serve four-year
terms.
Ten tons of falling water
will generate one kilowatt
hour of electricity.
