Plans Being Made
For Reunion of
Graduating Class
Plans are being made for
a class reunion of the 1929
graduating class of Medford
High school, according to a
committee making arrange
ments. The reunion will be held at
Rogue Valley Country club
June 20. The committee mak
ing arrangements includes
Opal , Neidermeyer, Janet
Guches, Jack Walker, Aubrey
Sander and Gordon "Warner.
Letters have been mailed
to all members Qf the class
whose addresses are known,
committee members said, and
replies which have been re
ceived indicate that several
are planning to attend.
Additional features are be
ing planned during that week
end for the 1929 graduating
class, they said.

The committee has asked
help in locating several gradu
ates whose addresses are not

Jessi Session for
Girls Scheduled
McMinnville-Girls interest
ed in attending the second
annual Junior Engineers and
Scientists Summer Institute
(JESSI) session at Linfield
college, McMinnville, may ob
tain necessary information
and application blanks from
science departments of the
high school they attend, col
lege officials have announced.
The session is scheduled be
tween June 14 and 27. The
program will include five
class hours per day with eve
ning vocational discussions
and guest speakers. Members
of Linfield college's staff will
conduct classes.
Oregon State college will
hold a JESSI session for boys.
Cub Scouts
Den 3, Pack 3
Den 3, Pack 3, Cub Scouts,
held their meeting at 816 Wav
erly ave. Friday, Feb. 20. The
boys finished their projects
for the next pack meeting.
On Saturday, the Den visit
ed Jacksonville, where mem
bers saw the museum and the
cemetery. Thoy were accom
panied by their Den Mothers,
Mrs. Haugen, Mrs. Rose and
Mrs. O'Dell. After the tour, re
freshments were served.

Den 11 of Pack 8, Jackson
school, met Feb. 24. We check
ed our books with our Den
Mother to be sure of our
awards for the next pack
meeting. Jack Young, denner,
and Richard Cole, assistant
denner, led the flag salute.
Richard Cole brought re
freshments. Steven Wilcox
brought and played his elec
tric organ while we sang
songs. Jack Young read an In
dian story. Paul Greeny was
our' guest at the meeting. We
popped corn and played games
in the garden before going
home.
Last Tuesday, two new boys
joined our Den. They are Mike
and Pete Updike. They have
come from the Central Point
Pack 40. Pete is working for
his lion's badge and will go
into Webelos soon.
Den 11 planned a skit for
the Blue and Gold birthday
party F e b . 26 at Jackson
school.
Medford Receives
Walker Award
Medford is one of four Ore
gon cities to receive the 1958
Walker Safety Award certifi
cate for police departments
which materially reduced
"traffic fatalities and injuries,
Frank J. Schira, Chicago,
president of the National Po
lice Officers association of
America, has announced.
Other cities in Oregon to
receive the award are As
toria, Dalles and Portland.
The Walker Safety Award
program was designed to rec
ognize efforts of law enforce
ment officers in the fair but
strict enforcement of traffic
regulations, Schira said.
"Where traffic violations
are met with arrests the re
sults save lives and pain to
the injured," he said. The
Walker award" is named after
the Walker Manufacturing
company, Racine, Wise, which
sponsors the program along
with the National Police Offi
cers association.
Music, Art Festival
Slated in Roseburg

val, which will be held in
the Douglas county fair
grounds community building
June 14-27, is expected to
draw entries from through
out the area.
Artists from southern Ore
gon are being invited to ex
hibit, and plans are being
made to invite outstanding
Oregon artists outside the
area to exhibit. Information
