Dean jammed his left hand

for the injury yesterday and
did not work out with the
squad. Dean, who was to
have further treatment today,
told Coach Frank Roelandt

tonight with the fifth man
to be named from among
Jerry Shults, John Harvey
and Lowell and Calvin Dean.
For Klamath, coach Dean
White .may open with the
usual crew of Bob Lewis, Jim
Hall, Bob Petersen, Dean Dun
son and Don DeLap.
New offensive wrinkles, bet
ter shooting and more alert
defense have been the concen
trations in Medford practices
this week. Workouts were
completed for the week yes
terday when pressing and
stalling tactics and ball han
dling were emphasized in a
short drill.
What preparations Klamath
has been making, haven't
been learned. However, the
Pels will be hot after a vic
tory to boost their league lead
Hi games. The Klamathites
feel that they have a good
chance of going all the way
to their third straight District

by Medford.
Defensive Work
Defensive work has been an
issue at Crater where coach
Lloyd Hoffine is priming the
Comets to get back into the
victory column. He's given
the Crater crew a lot of fun
damentals in his second week
as head man. "Their starting
to run the offense a little
better," Hoffine said concern
ing the Comets. Crater looked
strong in the first half last
week against Ashland but did
not hold up in the last two
quarters.
Hoffine reported that Dave
Sharp could be among the
starters against Grants Pass
tonight. Others from among
the opening fives for the two
week end games may be pick
ed are, Wayne Allen, Loyal
Higinbotham, Chuck Turner,
Bill White, John Burns and
Dennis Pfaff.
Grants Pass has been
plagued by physical ailments
this season and word from the
Climate city is that Johnnie
Olson, an offensive cog, could
be the "loss" this week. Olson
has been , ill. Coach Gordon
Prehm said that he might not
use Olson as a starter against
Crater although he may be
able to play. The Cavemen
beginning line-up may be
picked from Rodger Burton,
Rick Sabin, Jerrie Putnam,
Dick Hayes, Rex Benner and
Mike Leonard.
Olson scored 36 points the
last time he faced the Comets.
Medford and Klamath jun
ior varsities vie at 6:30 p.m.
at Hedrick while the sopho
more teams meet at the same
time tonight at the senior high
gym.

Archie Moore and Sugar Ray
Robinson will fight for
Moore's light heavyweight
crown, probably in June, if
they can come to terms on
splitting the purse.
That was disclosed today
by Truman Gibson, president
of the dissolving Internation
al Boxing club of New York.
Preliminary confer e n c e s
were concluded here Thurs
day night among Gibson, mid
dleweight champion Robin
son, Jack K e a r n s Moore's
manager Robinson's advis
ors George Gainford and Har
old Johnson, and Jim Norris
former boxing czar.
Gibson stressed that Robin
son wanted an even 30-30 per
cent split with Moore of all
net receipts from the gate,
theatre-TV or home TV, and
movies.
That 30-30 demand "ran
into formidable opposition
from : Manager Kearns, who
pointed out that Moore's title
would be at stake," Gibson
continued. "But Robinson
pointed out he was a cham
pion and a big drawing card
too even if he wasn't risking
his title."
