RUSS KEYNOTE SPEECH Soviet Premier Nikita
Khrushchev (center right, at rostrum) addressed the 21st
Communist Party Congress in Moscow, and kicked off a
seven-year plan calling for ambitious gains in economic
production. He said that neither a hot nor cold war would
be necessary, and expressed hopes for a thaw in the

GIVES UP Clyde Briedlander, 55 (left) wno fatally shot
his business partner, Lawrence Royal, after an argument
on the opening day of their car-wash business in San
