Hobbyists are agog over a new decora
tive accent for use in the home a
simple plastic transfer which is easily
applied to any nonporous surface.
Much thinner than paper, these plastic
sheets come in a variety of decorative
patterns created by skilled artists. Some
are in bold colors inspired by stained
glass windows; others are metallic hues on
clear backgrounds. Most of the designs
are translucent and include stylized foliage
and leaves, medallions, monograms, even
Chinese characters to be used singly or
in combination, as your inspiration dictates.
You can create beautifully original
trays, platters, bowls, or vases with these
transfers, for they adhere well to glass,
metal, or ceramic surfaces. The larger,
bolder, more dramatic motifs are suitable
for wall panels or folding screens. The
smaller geometric designs may be repeated
to create allover effects. One color trans
ferred over another produces a sparkling
intermediate color.
