Applegate Celebrates

of the honored guests, was the oldest native son attending the dinner. Mrs. Haskins is seated at her husband's right, and also pictured

Attending the Applegate valley Centennial dinner last Saturday
were (left to right) H. J.. Arnold, Butte Falls; Gayle Offenbacher, her
grandfather, Ray Offenbacher, Mrs. Edward Henderson and Wiley
(Bud) Turnbough, Thompson creek. Mrs. Henderson's gown, an Offen
bacher heirloom, first belonged to Kathryn Offenbacher who, with
her husband, Valentine, came to Oregon in 1879.
Four members of the Applegate Valley Centennial committee posed in the kitchen
of the Upper Applegate Grange hall following Saturday's dinner. Harlan Cantrall
sampled a home-made pickle while the women committee members (left to right),
Mrs. Edna Sawyer, Mrs. Chester Kubli and Mrs. William Ziegler, looked on. Th
dinner was the first such Centennial event given in Jackson county.

Honored guests at the Centennial dinner given in the Applegate valley January 17 were members of early-day Jackson county families, particularly

During the dinner Robert Sorber, committee chairman, introduced the honored guests and other long-time residents of the county. The Applegate valley
Centennial committee was assisted by other groups and schools of the district in giving the dinner.

Seven-year-old Anne Pearson, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Pearson, Route 2, Box 50, Jacksonville,
wore an old-fashioned full-skirted dress for the
Centennial dinner. Young and old alike enjoyed
the dinner and dance which followed.
