Art Students Plan Trip

Yreka High school, is busy
making preparations for her
annual art class field trip
and culture tour of San Fran
cisco. This year, the students of
her art II and HI classes are
making cakes and selling
them to raise the money for
the expenses of their trip.
"Wednesday evening, three
girls and 10 boys from her
classes, under her direction,
made and baked 72 cakes,
using the Home Ec room and
ovens for their preparation.
These cakes were not made
from mixes, but were made
by the youngsters "from the
ground up," to quote Mrs.
Cozzalio. Orders had been
taken for the cakes previous
ly, and the students deliver
ed the cakes to the custom
ers on Thursday. The field
trip is scheduled for the week
end of Feb. 28.
Word was received here
this week of the death in
Sacramento on Jan. 8 of Mrs.
Sj W. Lowden.
Mrs. Lowden was born at
Scott Bar, the daughter of
Siskiyou county pioneer par
ents, Thomas McGuffey and
Esther Simon McGuffey. She
was a cousin of Mrs. Emory
Parshall and an aunt of Mrs.
Bertha Bradley. She and her
husband, who survives, had
lived in Marysville, Calif., for
40 years, and in Sacramento
for the past seven years.
Last July, they observed
their golden wedding an
niversary. Also surviving are
, one daughter in Sacramento,
and one in Marysville, and a
son in San Jose.
Funeral services and bur
ial were in Sacramento.
Funeral services for Rob
ert Ross Lounsbury, 84, were
held on Tuesday at the Gird
ner funeral chapel in Yreka.
Mr. Lounsbury had lived
here for the past year and a
half at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack McMaster. Prev
ious to coming here he had
lived in Yreka for five years,
and before that, ' in Happy
Camp for about five years.
He was a retired electrical
worker.
He leaves no known rela-
, tives. His wife, Bertha, died
in Yreka in 1957- Burial was
- in Evergreen cemetery.

Savage, who was home on
furlough from his Army base
in Alabama. ,

turned to Ft. Ord, Calif., on
Friday, after spending an
eighKday furlough here with
his grandmother, Mrs. Priscil
la Augsberger. '
Pvt. Goodwin recently was
graduated from military po
lice school at Ft. Gordon, Ga.,
and has been assigned to Ft.
Ord.

columns, and exterior concrete
perimeter foundation walls; fur
nishing and installing- pressure
treated timber roof framing, and
covering roof surfaces with V-beam
type aluminum roofing.
