THE lAijf&tebU OF MUSIC
Is a source of endless delight to
children. The magic of the keyboard holds unfailing appeal. Constant association
with a fine piano in their own home will develop and maintain that interest.
Dependable quality, beauty of tone, ease of action are essential to a good instru

Company Gives
Directions For
Making Candles
Homemakers interested in
making their own decorative
Christmas candles, will find
useful the Instructions issued
bv the company which sells
parowax.
A one-pound candle can be
made in the following man
ner. Remove the four quarter-
pound sections of parowax
from the carton, sealing two
of them together by dipping
the flat surface in a shallow
pan of melted wax and press
ing one on top of the other.
Repeat this process with the
remaining two blocks.
Score one section down the
middle lengthwise with an
ordinary beverage can open
er to provide space for a piece
of candle wickihg. This should
be dipped in the melted paro
wax and laid in the groove,
leaving approximately Vz inch
at top of candle.
Dip the flat surface of one
of the sections in the melted
wax and press together; then
quickly turn entire candle in
the melted wax, including the
protruding end of the wick.
Now the candle is ready for
frosting. Melt one-half pound
of parowax and beat with
electric or hand beater to the
consistency of whipping
cream, patting me loamy
wax on the candle with a
spatula or table knife, keep
ing the candle square. It is
also suggested that the frost
ing be built up approximately
Vz inch above the top of the
candle on all four sides. This
forms a retainer for the wax
as the candle burns. Do not
smooth the frosting, as it will
lose a great deal of Its effectiveness.
Shake on sparkle.
Candles made of parowax
are long burning, ana De
cause of the transparency of
the product, the entire candle
glows when lighted. The frost
ing made from parowax can
be used for other decoration,
such as tipping pine cones
and boughs. Ordinary pre
cautions should be observed
when heating and handling
wax.
