M. Anderson, a Cornell Uni
versity zoologist, is using a
$12,800 National Science
Foundation grant to find out
more about the stomach of a
starfish. He is studying in de
tail the starfish method of
sliding its stomach out of its
mouth and surrounding food
with a baglike structure
which is then retracted.
Anderson descrbes the star
fish as an "animal which
sends its stomach out for
dinner."
SIOUX TAKES A BROTHER
CannonbaU, 111. OD The
tribal drums of the Sioux In
dian tribe boomed again this
fall to celebrate the adoption
of a white man into the Sioux
nation. Attorney Marvin So
nosky of Washington, D.C.,
was made a Sioux blood
brother in ceremonies con
ducted by the tribe's 75-year-old
chief, Basil Two-Bears.
Sonosky was honored for his
work in obtaining Congres
sional passage of legislation
that resulted in a $12,500,000
grant to the Sioux.
