The Price

several years ago, when we were trans
ferred out West, an Indian friend of ours and
his son offered to move some of our furniture
for us. They were proud of their heritage
and thought the trip would give them an
opportunity to see more of the country of
Indian legend.
En route they stopped at many places of
historic interest, including the site of Custer's
last stand. When they returned home they
regaled us with tales of Indian lore.
"But," said the son, obviously disappointed, .
"when we stopped at Little Big Horn, a man
said there weren't any wild Indians around
there any more." Dorothy P. Mowery,

recently, icy bvsband and I were feeling
badly because we couldn't attend my broth
er's wedding, which was to take place more
than 2,000 miles away. We sent our gifts,
along with regrets.
A week or so after the honeymoon, we
received, instead of the usual "thank you"
card, a package. Its contents? Reels and reels
of film. They had taken movies of the prep
arations, the church ceremony, the reception,
and everything else.
It was one of the most pleasant surprises
and nicest gestures we've ever seen. Mrs.

we were shopping in an office-supply store
when a young couple, in their 20s, came in
"and asked to look at some second-hand type
writers. As they inspected the machines, the
girl explained that they were going to college
he was studying engineering, and she
chemistry and they needed a typewriter to
submit their assignments properly.
The owner listened attentively and, after
they decided on a $30 machine but were
having trouble getting together the required
amount, he said, "We need more people like
you in this country. So the price to you is
$20. Study well and make our future secure!"
