Insurance Agent
Vins First Place
Ardis N. Warren, Ashland,
recently won first place hon
ors in the annual Oregon com
petition among some 98 in
surance agents selling life in
surance. He is with the south
ern Oregon district of the
Equitable Life Assurance So
ciety. Jerry Gastineau, district
manager of the firm, said
Warren joined the company
only one month before compe
tition started. Warren sold 42
policies with a total value of
8276,370, Gastineau said, dur
ing October. Nearest competi
tor was Eli Morgan of Port
land who trailed by eight pol
icie with a volume of $119,
407. Warren was guest of Equit
able Life on a three-day trip
to Eugene, Salem and Port
land. Gastineau said Warren's
sale record places him third in
the western division of Equit
able Life, which includes 11
western states.
A graduate of Southern Or
egon college, Warren has
taught school, coached and
more recently was associated
with an Ashland real estate
firm.

Red Cross is having its annual
food drive. Students in each
home room are contributing
canned food for the needy.
Mrs. Louise Davis, advisor,
reports that many donations
have already been turned in.
On Dec. 10, the Library
club will have a party. Lynn
Peterson is in charge of in
tertainment. Ruth Milligan
and Dian Myers are in charge
of decorations.
Home room class officers
are changed every'nine weeks.
Some of the students elected
to serve as presidents for this
term are Bill Houston, room
6; John Lampkin, room 5;
Marsha Watson, room 36; Bob
Schreder, .18; and Jon Knipps,
room 16; and Don Driscoll,
room 28.
A special chorus of 19 sev
enth grade girls were selected
this week to sing in the Christ
mas program and . other af
fairs during the year. The
girls are Pam Hosick, Marg

Pam Jones, Kathy Smith, and
Linda Mattson, sopranos;
Monte Noble, Valerie Knight,
Cheryl Stewart, Cheryl Ves

Next Friday the annual sev
enth grade party will take
place in the cafeteria. Christ
mas decorations will be used
as the students frolic with
games and dancing. Refresh
ments will be served. Party
hours are from 7 until 9..

Curtain Callers
To Present Play
At Crater High

comedy with an underlying
dramatic theme, will be pre
sented by the Curtain Callers,
Crater High school dramatics
group, in the high school cafe
torium Friday and Saturday,
Dec. 12 and 13 at 8 p.m.
The play opens with Frank (

and dramatic scenes in the j
book woven together by j
Christoper Sergei into an en- i
joyable play.
Mr. Gilbreth ,the psychol
ogist, played by John Caster,
and Mrs. Gilbreth is played
by Sandra Smith. The children
include Ann, played by Shar
lette Hale; Ernestine, - played
by Betty Jones; Dale Nes
heim as Bill; Gary Meade as
Fred; Emitt Glass as Dan;
Wanda Davis as Lillian; and
Robert Allen as Jackie.
Other characters include
Brill, played by Arvella
Prom; Larry, played by Kent
Randahl; Joe Scales, Gay
Dean Jones; Dr. Burton, Bill
Manasco; and Mrs. Fitzgerald,
Margaret Pendleton.
The play is being directed
by Jim Backen.
A production staff of more
than 60 students working on
the play include Jim Hays
and Janet Scalberg, assistant
directors; Margaret Pendle
ton, technical director; Byron
Roninger, business manager;
Bob Gardner, stage manager;
Sandy Higinbotham, house
manager; Sylvia Yell, publici

of make-up.
