Communist Defeat
Expected in Berlin
Berlin-(UPI-Political experts
predicted today that voteri in
West Berlin's local election
Sunday , will hand the Com
munists the worst defeat they
have suffered at the polls of
postwar Europe.
They estimated that- the
Reds' share of the vote will be
even less than the 2.7 per cent
they polled in 1954, when
they failed to win a single
seat in the city council.
Socialist Mayor .Willy
Brandt,, who is seeking re
election, predicted that West
Berliners will prove with
their ballots that they reject
the Russian effort to run tfee
Western Allies out of Berlin
and transform the city's West
ern sectors into an undefend
ed "free city."
