Rumplestiltskin Slated
For Medford and Ashland
Ashland Five perform
ances of "Rumplestiltskin,"
the fall presentation of the
Southern Oregon College
players, will be presented in
Medford and Ashland. The
first performance will be Sat
urday, December 6, at 10 a.m.
in Churchill hall, and another
daytime performance for Ash
land will be December 13 at
10 a.m. in the same hall.
The Medford performances
will be Wednesday, Decem
ber 10 at 2:30 p.m. and 4:15
pjn. at the Craterian theater.
These performances are spon
sored by Medford branch,
American Association of Uni
verslty Women and tickets
will be on sale in the schools
December-9-10 during the
Scottish Rite
Plans Reunion
The program has been com
pleted for the semi-annual re
union of the Medford bcotusn
Rite Bodies. Thursday, De
cember 4, activities will con
sist of the conferral of the
31st degree of Scottish Rite
Free Masonry, at 8 p.m. in
the Masonic temple. Charles
H. Thurston and cast, under
the direction of Fred M. Gat-
ter, will be in charge of the
ritualistic work.
Saturday, December 6, at 8
p.m. in the Masonic temple,
Carl H. W. Oestreich and cast,
directed by John J. Kennedy,
will confer the 32nd degree
upon the class of candidates.

be welcomed by Worth Har
vey, Eugene, 33rd degree
honorary, and Past Grand
Master of Masons in Oregon
Preceding the conferral of
the 32nd degree, a no - host
'dinner will be served at 6:30

ence Moore and Barbara Mol-
lenbach, both of Ashland.
Leads Listed
Michael Johnson has been
chosen to play the lead role
of Rumplestiltskin, in the pro
duction. Young Johnson, who
comes from Sitka, Alaska, has
nad previous acting exper
ience, having appeared as the
young son in "The Happy
Journey" and as a twelve-year
old boy in the SOC summer
summer session play. Art ac
complished, pianist, Johnson
has played for many campus
assemblies and talent shows.
Joan Taylor will appear as
the miller's daughter who be
comes queen in the forthcom
ing play. Miss Taylor is new
to the SOC stage. She trans
ferred to. SOC from Eastern
Oregon college where she
played the part of Hilda Mil
ler in "Plain and Fancy."
Pat Leek of Medford and
James Cunningham of Malin
play two of the major sup
porting roles in Rumplestilt
skin. Cunningham, a sopho
more, is cast as the miller; he
has had experience acting in
several high school plays.
Miss Leek, also a sopho
more, will play the role of the
miller's wife. Her previous
acting experience includes:
the role of Little Bo Peep in
"Babes in Toyland"; the part
of a young country girl in the
Medford high school operetta,
"Up Old Smokey," and the
role of Cinderella in the SOC
production of Cinderella last
year. .

Playing the roles of the
king and the king's son are
Norman Gober and Steven
Wisely. Gober, from Klamath
Falls, appeared in many high
school plays and directed two
one-act plays. Wisely is from
Medford. ,

Final rehearsals are underway this week for "Brigadoon,"
popular musical comedy which the students of Medford High
school will present December 4-5-6 in the school auditorium.
Shown here in a scene from the play are Susan Baker, who
plays the part of Meg, and George Koch, cast as Jeff. Each
night this week finds the entire cast, the understudies, stage
hands, directors and everyone working with the production
on hand to put the finishing touches on the play. Lynn
Sjolund is musical director, Mrs. Lenore Zappell is dramatic
director and Colleen Hope, Medford dance teacher, is coach
ing the dancers. All seats are reserved and are now on sale
from high school students or may be obtained at the box
office.
Hudson's Rogue Camera Shop
Annual Ball Announced
One of the large social
events of the coming week
end will be the annual Mili
tary ball of Rogue' Valley
chapter, Reserve Officers' as
sociation. The ball, to be com
bined with a dinner, set for
Saturday, December 6, at
Rogue Valley Country club.
It is scheduled from 7:30 p.m.
until 1 a.m. in the club's main
dining room.
The event is for all former,
retired and present officers
of the armed forces of the
United States living in this
area. Co-chairmen in charge
of the event are Capt. Tom
Saunders and Capt. James D.
Straus. The chairmen state
that the event will be formal,
with men to wear their uni
forms or dark suits and wom
en formal gowns.
Tickets may be procured
from Swem's store, the Army

erside avenue, or at the door

Jacksonville Election of
officers was held at a meeting
of Ruth Rebekah lodge, Jack
sonville, December 1.
Those elected were Mrs. P.

Mrs. Melvin Wiggins, record
ing secretary; Mrs. Kindred
Thomas, financial secretary;

daughter, Joyce, and Wilson.
Mrs. Gilinsky is now teaching
in Whittier, Calif.
