Mr. Tupper was born in

He is survived by a daughter,
Mrs. Esther Wilson, Sprague
River, Ore.
Funeral services and inter
ment will be in Beatty. Lit
willer Funeral home is in
charge of local arrangements.

of injuries received in an auto

He Was born Aug. 3, 1937,
in Prescott, Ariz.
Survivors include his moth

his father, Jason E. Simmons,
San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Mrs.
Mryle Dodson, Lakeview; and
a grandmother, Mrs. Charles
Glenn, Turlock, Calif.
He was a dental technician
in Portland.
Funeral services will be
held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov.
28, at Litwiller's Mt. View
chapel, Ashland. The Rev.
Conrad Heidel will officiate.
Interment will be in Mt. View
cemetery. ,
ANDREW J. CHAPMAN
Andrew J. Chapman, 61, of
4335 Hilsinger rd., Phoenix,
died Sunday in Riley, Kan.,
according to word received by
Mrs. Roy B. Baker, a neighbor.
Chapman, a dairyman resid
ing in the valley since 1942,
was visiting his home town.
Mrs. Baker said he had been
ill for the past two or three
months.
Funeral services and inter
ment were scheduled today in
Riley.
Survivors include his wid
ow, Mabel; two sons, William
and Dean; three daughters,
Mrs. Lula Mae Marsh, Med
ford, Viola Chapman, Comp
ton, Calif., and Mrs. Mildred
Burdon, Chicago, and several
grandchildren.

Mr. Thompson, son of
George M. and Stella Peace
Thompson, was born in Lex
ington, Ky., on Sept. 10, 1915.
He was married in Jackson
ville, Fla., on Aug. 11, 1937,
to Murel O'Grady, who sur
vives. The family came to the
Rogue- valley from Charles
ton, S. C, in 1952, and since
that time Mr. Thompson has
operated the Phoenix Chevron
service station and auto court.
He was a member of the Cath
olic church and, the Phoenix
Lions club.
Besides his wife, he is sur
vived by three sons, John
Harold Thompson, stationed
in Japan with, the Navy,
George Glenn Thompson and
Joseph Lawrence Thompson,
of Phoenix; two daughters,
Clara Joy Thompson and Me
lanie Ann Thompson, at home;
his mother, Mrs. George M.
Thompson, of Jacksonville,
Fla.; one brother, Harry
Thompson, and two sisters,
Mrs. Ann Palms, and Mrs.
Florence Hickman, all of
Jacksonville.

Stocks Recapture One-Third of Losses
New York (DPI) Stocks re
gained one-third of their
losses of the three preceding
sessions in moderately active
trading in the pre-holiday
market today.
Late in the day the rails
had regained about half their
three-day losses; industrials
34 per cent; and utilities 10
per cent. The composite aver
age showed a rise of 33 per
cent.
At their best levels the
market showed a recovery of
nearly $4 billion in valuation
of all listed shares. The com
bined loss in the Friday, Mon
day and Tuesday sessions,
amounted to nearly $11 billion.
