Camp While Man
In Fair Condition
Jack Shipman, 59, of Camp
White, was reported in fair
condition Friday by Camp
White authorities after appar
ently attempting suicide
Thursday afternoon.
Chief Criminal Deputy Joe
Walsh said Shipman had ap
parently tried to commit sui
cide before entering his of
fice' ih the courthouse. He
admitted to deputies in the of
fice "that he had tried to do
away with himself," Walsh
said.
Sheriff's officers said Ship
man came into the office
Thursday and asked for the
jailer. He started to vomit,
removed a handkerchief from
his pocket and an empty io
dine bottle fell out, officers
said.
Dr. A. Erin Merkle, public
health officer, was called and
Shipman taken to Sacred
Heart hospital. He was later
transferred to the Camp White
domiciliary infirmary.
Shipman was arraigned
Thursday on charges of grand
. larceny and the case was con
tinued until Nov. 28 to per
mit him to obtain an attorney.
He is charged with taking a
tape-recorder from Purucker's
Music House in Medford Nov.
