Santa Solves
Cops' Problem
Nuernberg, Germany -(UPD
-Santa Claus is better than a
policeman any time, especial
ly when you're five years old
and lost. Police know this for
they have children of their
own.
A friendly policeman found
5-year-old Manuela roaming
through the busy center of
Nuernberg and took her to the
station house. But Manuela
couldn't remember her last
name or her address.
She looked around the sta
tion then and saw a telephone
and asked if she could call
Santa Claus whom she had
just seen standing in front of
a department store.
Sure, said the cop, and he
called another policeman in
the next room. What would
you Like, for Christmas? he
asked, and Manuela told him
. . . a doll, a tea set, doll
clothes . . .
And which chimney should
the presents be brought
down, the Santa Slaus cop
asked. Manuela's memory re
turned. She gave her parents'
names, the street address and
a description of the house.

FOUR BILLS OF EAGLE POINT The
"Four Bills," above, figure prominently in
the plans of the Eagle Point high football
team this week. Eagle Point will be host

A-2 semi-finals. Leaping for the goal post,
end Bill Hubbard (88) shows how high he
can go to outreach Viking pass defenders.

Eagles Work to Open Offense
For Play-Off Mix With Vale
Eagle Point - Eagle Point
high footballers have been
working on spread formation
and passing plays this week as
they prep for- a state Class A-2
play-off game with high-ranked
Vale.
Vale's , Vikings raid the
Eagle aerie on Saturday with
kick-off time at 1:30 p.m. It
is an Oregon championship
semi-final. Winner engages
the Willamina-Bandon victor
on the. following week end
for the diadem. Willamina
and Bandon mix On Friday.
The Vikings come to Eagle
Point as defending champions
and riding on the crest of a
22-game triumph streak. They
feature a potent balanced
single wing attack headed by
Dick' Fulwyler, 195 -pound
fullback' and second leading
scorer in the state. The Vale
crew defensively boasts a for
ward wall with no man under
195 pounds. With that in mind
the Eagles seek to open up
their offense a bit.
Strengthening of pass pro
tection in order to get the ball
away is a particular objective
of Coach Tom Van Etten's
Eagle gang. The Vale for
wards charge hard and like
to crash in on the aerial
chucker.
Ground Assault Seen
. Eagle defenses are being
primarily primed to halt a
crushing Vale ground attack.
But EP plans to be ready for
passes too. The Vikings have
completed frequent touch
down passes but seem to stick
more to the ground until they
get ahead.
Van Etten has reported his
Eagle Pointers so far in good
physical shape this week.
He'll likely call upon the
usual line-up for his District
6 champions who beat Oak
ridge in quarter-finals last
week end. These are Bill Hub
bard and Ken Jorde ends;
Roger Hooper and Gary
Ayres, tackles; Dale Casey
and Mack Lemmon, guards;
Dave Huffman, quarterback;
Bill Turner, left halfback; Bill
McClure, right halfback, and
