Many Parties Are Held

Hilts-On Thursday, Oct. 30,
the Sunday school held its
Halloween party at the club
house.
Prizes were given for the
best and funniest costumes.
Games and stunts were play
ed and refreshments of cider
and doughnuts were served.
Each of the four class
rooms at the local school held
their parties on the afternoon
of Oct. 31. Refreshments were
prepared and served by the
respective room mothers aft
er which games and stunts
were played.
Intermediate Girl Scout
Troop 221 held its party on
Friday evening at the scout
hal. Leaders Mrs. Audomar
De Clerck and Mrs. Mel
Barron and each child was in
costume pertaining to the
Halloween holiday. Games
were played and cider, candy,
doughnuts were served to
James and Edrith Cain, Caro
lyn and Kenneth. Preston,
Barbara and Carleen De
Clerck, Tommy Laustalot,
Miriam Barron, Pat Trinca,
Ronald Chase, La Wana Trin
ca, Billy Wilson, Joe Yaeger,
Shirley and Sherrie Staley,
Orris White and Gary Hamil
ton.
The Bridge club drove to
the home of Mrs. Malcolm
Robinson near Montague, on
Thursday, Nov. 6, where they
were served luncheon, then
in the afternoon played cards
i Birthday cake was served in
honor of Mrs. Fred Haynes
birthday and a gift was pre
sented to her by the group.
Making the trip were Mrs. Al
Simmen, Mrs. Art Blanchard,
Mrs. Ernest Spannaus, Mrs
Fred Haynes, Mrs. Frank Oh
lund, Mrs. Frank Graves, Mrs.
M. G. King and guests, Mrs
Philip York of Redding and
Mrs. Given Leak." High score
was won by Mrs. Spannaus,
second high by Mrs. Graves
and low to Mrs. Haynes.

Meyer returned to their home
in Eureka after spending a
week's vacation at the R. East
man home and with friends
and relatives in Yreka. Mrs.
De Meyer is Mrs. Eastman's
sister.
Jim Corbett of the Corbett
mine on Hungry creek was
called to Walla Walla recent
ly because of the illness of
his mother.

home on leave.
The PTA sponsored a tur
key dinner at the regular
meeting of the Volunteer Fire
department on Monday eve
ning, Nov. 3. The meal was
prepared by several members
of the PTA and was served by
a committee of firemen.
Miss Linda Shuck returned
home Monday from Sacred
Heart hospital where she. had
been a patient the past two
weeks undergoing a series of
tests and treatment. She be
came ill in Sacramento where
the is employed and was re
turned home by her father,
Tom Shuck, who made the
trip down on Tuesday, Oct.
28.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, 158
votes were cast at the general
election, held at the cafeteria
room of the Hilt school
house. Board members were
Mrs. Don Ward, Mrs. Audo
mar DeClerck, Mrs. A. Gerds,
Mrs. M. M. Sief, Mrs. R. East
man and Mrs. Victor Van de
Weghe. Counting of votes was
completed at 2 a.m.
Mrs. Margaret Weston, who
makes her home at the Yreka
Inn was a visitor at the home
of her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth
Maguire, on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip York
of Redding were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Graves the
week end of Nov. 2. York re
turned to his home on Tues
day but Mrs. York and the
children remained at the
Graves' home for an indefin
ite visit.

mas tree was held Thursday
evening, Nov. 6, at the home
of Mrs. Don Ward, chairman.

town for donations will start
next week. Mrs. James Cain
