petition in the first all-supersonic
fighter weapons meet.
The team of veteran. Air
Force pilots put on a spectacu
lar display of flying Monday
as they maneuvered their
speedy F100 Supersabre jets
in the skies above Indian
Springs, about 50 miles north
of here.
The pilots, engaged in mock
combat with the dart-a towed
target that goes through all
the movements of its carrier
craft scored a perfect score
of 3600 points in the air-to-air
event.

Woman Confesses
To Embezzlement
San Francisco (UPD Mrs,
Flora Lopez, 48-year-old wid
ow from Corte Madera, has
admitted st ealing $54,000
from a San Francisco depart
ment store where she was em
ployed since 1946, according
to police.
Mrs. Lopez, who worked as
a cashier, told authorities she
took from $30 to $60 each eve
ning during the past four
years and destroyed sales slips
equalling the amounts.
The suspect, who has four
grown children, said she was
paid $250 a month on her job
and received $30 a month
from the government for the
death of her husband, who
was killed by American bombs
in the Philippines during
World War II.
Of the total theft, Mrs. Lo
pez told police, not a cent was
left. She said she hadn't gam
bled and had nothing to show
for the money.
"Just a lot of sickness and
operations and educating four
kids, it went," she said.

Switch Engine Hits
County Pickup Truck
A Southern Pacific diesel
switch engine struck a Jack
son county pickup truck at
the Main st. crossing Monday.
Police said the engineer
was Robert Frances Sayre,
Oak Ridge, and the pickup's
driver was Andrew Bjornsen,
859 West 14th st., Medford.
The engine struck the truck
on the left side, buckling the
door. There were no injuries,
police said, and no citations
were issued.
Children's accidents, ac
cording to a report to the
Canadian Medical Association,
are mostly likely to occur on
the afternoon of a warm day.
