Marriage
Announced
Of interest here is news of
the wedding of Miss Chloe
Fairweather to Joseph Erken
brecher September 24 in Char
lottsville, Va. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Fairweather, 3013 Dark
Hollow road, and the bride
groom is a son of Dr. and
Mrs. Robert Moon, Modesto,
Calif. -
The couple was unattended
for the ceremony; the bride's
mother was present.
The newlyweds are living
in Norflok, Va., where the
bridegroom is serving with
the United States Marine
corps. He will be released
from service in December,
and the couple will return to
the west coast at that time.
The bride is a graduate of
the Katharine Branson school,
Ross, Calif., and attended the
University of Oregon where
she was a member of Kappa
Kappa Gamma, national so
cial sorority. During her jun
ior year she was enrolled at
the University for Foreigners
in Perugia, Italy, and the
University of Rome.
Mr. Erftenbrecher is a grad
uate of Memo Boys school,
Menlo Park, Calif., and the
University of Oregon. His fraternity-is
Phi Kappa Psi.

Ceremonial Held

of the Nile, will hold a stated
session at the Medford Ma
sonic temple Saturday, Octo
ber 11, at 1 pjn.
A luncheon will precede
the meeting at 12 noon with
the temple patrol in charge.
Presidents of the 12 clubs
will within the jurisdiction of
Zuleima temple are to be hon
ored guests. A charge is to
be made for the luncheon. .
Mrs. E. Ronald Rice, queen
of Zuleima temple, presided
at a ceremonial Saturday,
September 27, in the Medford
Masonic temple during which
46 candidates were initiated
into the order.

Graduate School
On Atomic Grant

and Mrs. H. O. Peterson, 1440

has enrolled at Columbia uni
versity graduate school, New
York City, in chemical en
gineering. The student, a graduate of
Oregon State college, is the
recipient of an Atomic Ener
gy Commission grant which
covers tuition, transportation

The engagement of Miss
Shirley Douglass to William
Patton was revealed to
friends recently during a par
ty at the home of Wallace
Iverson on Lake of the
Woods.
Miss Douglass is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Adraen
E. Douglass, Portland. A
graduate of the speech and
drama department of Stan
ford university, Palo Alto,
Calif., Miss Douglass was an
actress with the 1958 Oregon
Shakespearean festival com
pany. " v
Mr. Patton, also an alum
nus of Stanford, is the son of
Mrs. C. Rease Braley, 245
Valley View drive, Medford.
He has been general manager
of the Shakespearean festival
since 1954. Prior to this ap
pointment, he served the f-s-tival
as lighting director
while affiliated with CBS in
Hollywood.
The couple is planning a
holiday wedding in Portland
during the Christmas season.

Parties Honor

Leaving Today
Mrs. Mary T. Simonds,
long-time Medford resident,
has been honored at many
parties recently. Mrs. Si
monds was to leave this
morning for Phoenix, Ariz.,
where she has purchased a
home and will spend the win
ter months in the future.
Mrs. Simonds' daughter,
Mrs. John Stewart of Phoe
nix, has been in Medford
with her mother for the past
two weeks and the two are
traveling south together.
Mrs. Simonds has sold her
home on Richmond avenue,
and for the past several days
has been a guest in the home
of Mrs. Grace Collins on
East Main street. Mrs. Col
lins and Mrs. J. A. Cunning
ham were hostesses for a tea
honoring Mrs. Simonds, the
event having been held Sep
tember 22 at Mrs. Collins'
home. Mrs. Collins also gave
a dinner for her guests.

pert and Mrs. Lora Rowan
were hostesses for a break
fast last Sunday morning at
Rogue Valley Country club,
honoring Mrs. Simonds. Sev
enteen guests attended.
September 27 Mrs.. Lewis
Ulrich gave a luncheon at her
home on Minnesota avenue
for Mrs. Simonds. Another
farewell event for Mrs. Si
monds was a coffee given by
Mrs. Fred Rankin. This was
a neighborhood party for
friends of Mrs. Simonds liv
ing on Richmond avenue.
Friends of Mrs. Stewart
also entertained in her honor.

land, has been a guest in Med
ford of her cousin, Mrs.
Lewis Ulrich, 839 Minnesota

Mrs. Eckelson and Mrs.
Ulrich were both born and
reared in Jacksonville and
both are granddaughters of
Jayne P. Prim, an early su
preme court judge of this
state. The two women visit
ed the Jacksonville -museum
where a number of family
heirlooms are exhibited, in
cluding the wedding gown of
Mrs. Eckelson's mother, who
was Effie Bybee before her
wedding to Charles Prim.
Mrs. Eckelson is the former
Bertha Prim.
This was Mrs. Eckelson's
first visit to the museum, and
she expressed pleasure in and
approval of the institution.

Dinner Theme
For Sorority
"Faraway Lands" was the
theme of a progressive dinner
given for rushees of Beta Up
silon chapter of Beta Sigma
Phi September 30.
At the home of Mrs. Wayne
Harris guests were served the
first course .in.., a Hawaiian
atmosphere by hostesses dress
ed in native costumes. Leis
were presented to guests.
Hostesses were Mrs. Harris,
Mrs. Joe Sayre and Mrs.
Larry Horton.
The next course was a
Greek salad at the home of
Mrs. Arthur Brooks. The salad
was served on low tables deco
rated with grape leaves and
grapes and guests were seat
ed on cushions on the floor.
Hostesses, dressed in long
flowing Grecian robes, were
Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. Jack D.
Canon and Mrs. Fred Wilson.
The next stop was a gay
Italian restaurant duplicated
at the home of Mrs. Richard
Knoll where a spaghetti din
ner was served. Peasant-dressed
hostesses were Mrs. Knoll,
Mrs. Walter Smith and Mrs.
Max Larson.
The party ended on the
Rogue river at the home of
Mrs. Scott Davis, director of
the chapter, for a dessert: of
French pastries and cafe au
lait. Mrs. Davis was assisted
by Mrs. M. N. Hogan, sponsor
of the chapter and Mrs. How
ard Blew, Mrs. Ray Bostwick
and Mrs. Carl Christenson,
dressed as French girls.

at two o'clock in the after
noon and attended by 100 rel
atives and friends.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a white
taffeta frock accented with
lace and sequins and her lace
veil was held by a seed pearl
crown. She carried a bou
quet of stephanotis encircling
yellow orchids.
Mrs. William Rejchstein,
Talent, was matron of honor
and bridesmaids were Miss
Beckie Williams and Miss
Sandra Roth, cousin of the
bride. Mrs. Reichstein wore a
green satin sheath dress with
net overskirt and carried a
cascade bouquet of bronze
chrysanthemums. The brides
maids wore gold colored
dresses and carried yellow
chrysanthemums. Miss Linds
Gleim and Miss Sharon Berg-
ren, cousins of the bride and
bridegroom, respectively, were
candlelighters. They wore
raspberry colored frocks.
Richard Seymour served as
best man for his brother and
groomsmen were Harry
Gleim, brother of the bride,
and Lester Walker. George
Gleim Jr., cousin of the bride,
and Gerald Reichstein seated
the guests.
Fallowing the ceremony a
reception was held in the
Tally-Ho Dining room.
The couple traveled to the
coast on their wedding trip.
The bride chose for traveling
a blue embroidered sheath
dress with white accessories.
The newlyweds are graduates
of Talent High school and are
making their home at 101
West Main street, Talent.
Bolshoi Ballet
Film Dated Here
The Bolshoi Ballet company
film currently being shown
to capacity audiences in the
United States will be brought
to the Craterian theatre here
November 25 according to an
announcement yesterday by
R. P. Corbin of the Oregon
California theatres.
The Bolshoi company is a
noted Russian troupe which
presents traditional ballet and
the film was made, in London
during a long stay of the Rus
sian company in that city. The
film, feature length, in color
and cinemascope, has been
highly praised by critics and
audience where shown, Mr.
Corbin points out.

Travelers Return From Motor Trip
Mr. and Mrs. E. May and
their daughter, Miss . Anna

have returned from a motor
trip to St. Joseph, Mo., where
they were guests of the May's
son, Stanley May.
To Leave
Mr. and Mrs. Earl C. Brown,

to leave this morning for
Phoenix, Ariz., to visit rela
tives. Later the Browns will
go on to South Dakota and

The bride, a 1957 graduate
of Medford High school, is
a bookkeeper for Elton's
Farm and Garden store. She
has lived in Medford her en
tire life. Mr. Wynn, who
came to Medford about three
years ago from Fremont,
Neb., is employed at Piggly
Wiggly store.
Mr. Wynn and his bride
traveied to Portland and
Mount Hood for their honey
moon and are living at Route
