Partial
to Frogs

I t happens that the subdivision in which
we live backs up to a small
woods that boasts a small pond
frequented by a great many frogs. Not
as many, however, as before our house
was built our six-year-old twin boys
have seen to that.
The combination of the frog pond and
our twin boys is a happy circumstance
from Dickie and Davie's standpoint but
it is rather hard on: (1) the frogs and
(2) my wife.
The latter feels she has nothing in
common with frogs and wants to "keep

it that way. This makes for a certain
tenseness all around when, upon empty
ing the boys' pockets preparatory to
laundering, she gets a handful of
slimy green amphibians. Her usual be
havior when this occurs is to shriek
"EEIOUGH!" and leap up on the re
frigerator until she has my signed
affidavit that the frogs are gone.
After the most recent such adventure,
my wife issued an ultimatum. "I have
had it," she shuddered. "Either the frogs
go or I do!"
Since I have yet to meet a frog that
